Well, if FRP has something to do with role-playing, you might want to check out the RPG-thread on the previous page. Which reminded me of that Vampire-character I promised to tell you about but forgot. Well, here it goes (it is long, so if you're not interested, feel free to skip it - I won't be hurt):
Vittorio (aka Luigi Vialli, also known by many other names)
Vittorio is my character in the Giovanni Chronicles, a four-piece campaign made by White Wolf. We are now nearing the end of the third book and have played about 400 years in game-time, two years in real-life this far (with long breaks every now and then, due jobs, studies, etc). I try not to spoil any parts of the Chronicles, in case some of you will someday play them.
Vittorio is a very old Vampire. He was embraced the April fourth, 1444 and it is now the late 19th century in the Chronicle. His unlife, and those of his two companions, have been tightly entwined with the things going on in the clan Giovanni. Due to a very old encounter with two powerful necromancers, Claudio and Augusto Giovanni, Vittorio fears them insanely. Still, he has found himself many times far too deep in the matters of the Giovanni clan and as he's still alive (well, sort of), his belief in faith, omens, clairvoyances and other supernatural things has risen very high. For example, he is always kind to unknown old women and young girls and bewares the numbers of sixteen and nine, whereever he encounters them - both due to some old prophesies.
His partners-in-crime, Antoine and Uma have lately been worried about Vittorio's apparent paranoia - he sees the ghosts of Giovanni in almost every place they go and he is often overly careful, if a kindred/mortal/servant/dog/bird/wind/etc. is a Giovanni spy. Also, Vittorio takes a new identity almost every time they go somewhere and often demands the same from his companions. It seems to be only a matter of time when Vittorio no longer can accompany them, as his trust in them is slowly diminishing.
As he is very old and influential (an elder, so to say), he has a lot of contacts, both inside Camarilla and Sabbat. He knows personally many VERY important persons in the former, like the Founders, Prince Mithras, Francois Villoine and their like; in the latter he knows certain persons, whose names won't be mentioned. He has built a large information-gathering network aimed at the Giovanni and he has huge amounts of books and reports concerning their actions. Antoine uses Vittorio's information and gives sometimes something in return, but Uma scorns their attempts, finding them futile.
All the three belong nominally in Camarilla, but both Vittorio and Antoine don't care much about it. Antoine is actually a high-placed agent of Sabbat, spying the Camarilla at Western Europe - Vittorio has figured that out some time ago, but hasn't told it to Uma, who would probably kill the mighty Brujah (and damn she could do that - a Gangrel with combined physical stats over 15 without modifiers and high fortitude, protean and celerity, plus some potence, can kill just about anyone!) and Vittorio doesn't want that - at least yet, that is. He is himself indifferent towards the whole war between Camarilla and Sabbat, hoping only that whichever side wins would attack the Giovanni. He has managed to manipulate the Camarilla to do that a couple times, but so far it seems that Antoine is the only member of Sabbat who fights the Giovanni. Thus, Vittorio supports the cause of Camarilla the more, although he keeps close ties to some members of Sabbat, especially those of clan Nosferatu (as he is one himself).
Vittorio is very wise and observant, his wide range of knowledge gathered during the centuries. Also, he is a master of subtle lies and false emotions, who can fool just about anyone with his words. Physically, he is rather small and weak (and UGLY!), yet nimble. He is capable of altering his speech, expression and manners in such a way that with some vampiric powers to alter his appearance, he can impersonate virtually anyone, regardless of race, age, or sex.
Vittorio masters many unnatural powers of the vampires, especially that of Obfuscate, which he uses constantly to mask his ugliness, but also in times of danger (which often means "when anything unexpected happens"). He has literally vanished in the air before the eyes of his companions and recently he has used his abilities to change their appearance in the eyes of others. However, often when there are some Giovanni around, Vittorio has found his powers of stealth extremely hard to use, the worst case being when he met Ambrogino Giovanni in London - a confrontation Vittorio is bound to remember the rest of his un-life.
In addition to Obfuscate, Vittorio is also strong in the disciplines of Potence, Auspex and Domination and has some knowledge in Animalism, Celerity and Fortitude, some of which he has "learned" from his companions. He has taught the skill of Obfuscation to Antoine, but the proud Brujah can't master it as well as Vittorio can.
Vittorio has one childe, Nicholas, who was first Vittorio's ghouled servant. Their relationship has remained honest and calm through the years, yet Nicholas feels himself somewhat distanced from his ever more paranoid sire.
Vittorio's haven is under Paris, well hidden behind a maze of tunnels and sewers. Except for Nicholas and Antoine (and a once-in-a-century-visit by Uma), very few creatures have visited him there for centuries. Except for the ever-present ghosts Vittorio sees at every corner, that is.
Vittorio is a very calm and calculating person, yet behind his many masks, he is more a frightened little being than an immortal master of puppets. He speaks in a cynical way and rarely shows any respect to those not above him. He admires Antoine for his bravery (that he lacks himself) and admits that the short-tempered Brujah has learned a lot through the years - no more need Vittorio stomp on Antoine's foot every time the Brujah opens his mouth when they are discussing with other kindred. Also, Antoine's connections with the Sabbat have made him somewhat dangerous - were he revealed, Vittorio might also feel the wrath of Camarilla on his neck. Despite all that, Vittorio sees Antoine as his tool with which he can manipulate the upper echelons of Camarilla - the Brujah does the talking and nobody knows the words were coming from the Nosferatu.
Uma is a different case. The silent Gangrel, although often regarded as just a statist (and fighting arm) in the companion of the Brujah and Nosferatu, has a lot of practical sense, just like a wild animal, whose surviving depends on its instincts. Vittorio has fooled her often and will do so in the future, as he finds it somewhat amusing to confuse her. However, he shares a feeling of belonging with Uma - they have both gone through some things that have left deep emotional scars on them and they have both saved each other's un-lives. Thus, their emotional bond keeps them together, despite their apparent dislike to each others behaviour at times.
Comments are welcome (Malveaux? Misanthrope?).
