Is this even possible?

That will be nice. Compared to the last album anything will be nice. I don't mind long songs. I love prog and epic songs, but the last DT albums just sucks!

Look at Iron Maiden:

'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' 13:36 min = great song!
'Purgatory' 3:20 min = great song!

Blind Guardian:

'Run For The Night' 3:36 min = great song!
'And Then There Was Silence' 14:05 min = great song!

Dream Theater:

'Learning To Live' 11:30 min = great song!
'Burning My Soul' 5:29 = great song!
'Vacant' 2:58 = great song!
'This Dying Soul' 11:28 = giant piece of shit!

Ergo, is not the size is how you manage the size :D

I love "old" DT like I&W but they are too busy for my tastes on the past several releases. One thing I will say about them though, id that they do what they want, when they want and that is cool. If they do a whole CD full of Elvis covers I wouldn't be surprised. If they toned down and made a power metal albunm full of 4 minute songs, I would not be surprised either.
I am not a big fan of theirs, but they are the "standard" by which all other prog bands are measured for a reason (though it should be Fates in their place.) They maintain a signature sound that is true to only DT, but have never come close to making the same album twice. Any band that does that deserves some kudos to a degree.

I like the term busy, used by Bryant, I love the band to death, but at times it's a "chore" to listen to their stuff...
I would love to hear a record of 4 min tracks, I think if they would do something like this they would just blow up. Their reputation for doing these long jammin' tracks has just limited their target audience.

And the time to do this album full of short song should be....now. NOW is the best possible time for them to do it. And Sixx is right, it would blow them up to a much wider audience.

They wait too much longer & they'll pass up on a big opportunity.
You figure the label would be pushing for them to try this out at least once?
They are one of the few bands that's still on a major label that has more finacial backing to shove the record down people's throats.
There is no damn logic in the music biz I guess?:erk:
