Just curious, here's a list of bands...
What was the last great record that...
Metallica
Maiden
Motorhead
Megadeth
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath
Danzig
Slayer
Anthrax
Dream Theater
Testament
Exodus
AC/DC

Recorded?!

Here's what I think...

Metallica-Master of Puppets, I would have gone with the Black Record, but Puppets, was when they were still a Bay Area Thrash band...
Maiden- Seventh Son of A Seventh Son.
Motorhead-It could be Inferno...
Megadeth-I liked Youthanasia...
Judas Priest-Painkiller!:worship:
Black Sabbath-Cross Purposes.
Danzig-Danzig I
Slayer-Seasons in the Abyss
Anthrax- Sound of White Noise...
Dream Theater-Images & Words(I don't think these guys could ever top this record. And would it kill them to make a 4.5 minute song?!)
Testament-I liked Practice What You Preach...
Exodus-Tempo of the Damned...:worship:
AD/DC-Last decent record was, Razor's Edge....

SIXXSWINE-\m/

Metallica - ...And Justice for All
Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Motorhead - Haven't heard quite enough of 'em

Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory, though I'm tired of pretty much all of them now.
Testament - The Gathering (ya, the most recent one)
Exodus - Only heard Bonded by Blood
AC/DC - Back in Black was the last album I really paid attention to

Sabbath-Mob rules. :worship: :headbang: :worship: :headbang: :worship: :worship:
Anthrax-Among the living. :headbang:
Judas preist-Pain killer.
Metallica-Metallica, in that style yes, but if they had changed their name, 'Load'.
Slayer-God hates us all.
AC/DC-Razors edge, only because they still sounded the same like when they had Bon Scott, He was the greatest!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:
Megadeth-The world needs a hero. It still sounds like them only slower.
Exudos-A lesson in violence. It wasn't new or anything but it kicked ass seeing Bailoff reunited even for that last time R.I.P :worship: .
Sorry I don't remember most of the last records I bought most are not in my possesion at this time and I have over 130 some odd cds' right now, I'm lazy.

Hey, cool thread Sixx!

Well, let's see. The last great record for me that was put out by ...
Metallica - black album (MOP is their best but the two afterwards were great, too.)
Maiden - Brave New World (haven't heard the new one though)
Motorhead - *points to avatar*
Megadeth - Risk (Yes, I mean it. It's totally different and probably would have made a better solo album but nevertheless I love it.)
Judas Priest - Painkiller :worship:
Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (Note that I don't know Forbidden yet.)
Danzig - How The Gods Kill
Slayer - God Hates Us All :worship:
Anthrax - We've Come For You All (Sorry, Sixx! ;) )
Testament - Does First Strike Still Deadly count? If not then it's The Gathering
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned
AC/DC - I have to pick The Razors Edge :worship: but I also liked BB and SUP

GREAT or GOOD? I'll assume great.

Metallica-...And Justice For All
Maiden-Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son(you said GREAT. I did like their last two.)
Motorhead-Inferno
Megadeth-Youthanasia
Judas Priest-Painkiller
Black Sabbath-Headless Cross
Danzig-Fuck if I know
Slayer-Seasons In The Abyss
Anthrax-Persistance Of Time(I liked Sound Of White Noise and We've Come For You All, but they're merely good. POT fucking RULES!!!)
Dream Theater-Scenes From A Memory
Testament-The Gathering
Exodus-Tempo Of The Damned
AC/DC-The Razor's Edge

Metallica - Master of puppets
Maiden - Number of the Beast
Motorhead - Inferno!
Megadeth - The System Has Failed
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Danzig - *
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Anthrax - Armed and Dangerous EP
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Testament - The Gathering
Exodus - Bonded by Blood/Another Lesson in Violence
AC/DC - Highway to Hell

Metallica - Master of Puppets
Maiden - Number of the Beast
Motorhead - Inferno
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Danzig -
Slayer - God Hates Us All
Anthrax -
Dream Theater -
Testament - The Gathering
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned
AC/DC -

Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Motorhead - Inferno
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes
Danzig - IV
Slayer - God Hates Us All
Anthrax - Persistence Of Time
Dream Theater - Images and Words
Testament - The Gathering
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned
AC/DC - Ball Breaker

Metallica - Puppets (sure Justice & Black have their moments, but I cant consider either to be 'great' records)

Maiden - Dance of Death. Sure the production is embarrassing, but this is Maiden's best since the godly 'Somewhere in Time'.

Motorhead - Inferno! Motorhead may actually be better TODAY than they were in 1980!

Megadeth - Rust in Peace. After that, it really was a "countdown to extinction"!

Judas Priest - Painkiller. But my hopes are high for the new release!

Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes. This IS a great record! The Tony Martin era is tragically underrated!

Danzig - IV. After IV, he tanked.

Slayer - God Hates Us All . Great record, indeed!

Anthrax - White Noize......perhaps their BEST record?!

Dream Theater - I've not known them to release a great record.

Testament - Preach. But, overall, these guys are pretenders to the throne.

Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned. Indeed!

AC/DC -Flick of the Switch. Their last great record.

Great?, you have to be careful with what you ask. I mean not the last good one, but the last great one. So be it:

"Master Of Puppets"
"Powerslave"
"Inferno" :p
"Rust In Piece"
"Painkiller"
"Born Again"
I don't hear Danzig.
I don't hear Slayer.
"State Of Euphoria"
"Metropolis Pt.2: scenes from a memory"
"The Gathering"
I don't hear Exodus.
I don't hear AC/DC. (but I'll say " Back In Black")

Though Maiden declined in the 90s, Brave New World and to a lesser extent Dance of Death, are both very good, so change my pick to one of them.

There's one other important band that perhaps should be included, however. Sepultura. Chaos A.D. is their last great album, in my opinion.

As for Sepultura, I think Roots had enough good songs to count it in but after that...wow did they go downhill. I looked to Soulfly for support but thought they sucked even more. End of an era, I say!

Oops, derailed the thread...

Let's see...

Metallica - Reload
Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Motorhead - Not a big fan
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Danzig - II Lucifuge (III and IV are REALLY good, but Lucifuge is GREAT indeed)
Slayer - Blah!
Anthrax - We've Come For You All :kickass:
Dream Theater - Not a big fan
Testament - The Gathering
Exodus - Not a big fan
AC/DC - Highway To Hell

Metallica- ... And Justice For All.

Maiden- I'd have to say Dance of Death.

Motorhead- Inferno is pretty cool...

Megadeth- Rust in Peace

Judas Priest- Painkiller, but lets hope that changes soon.

Black Sabbath- Dehumanizer

Slayer- Seasons in the Abyss

Dream Theater- I liked 12 Degrees of Inner Turbulence...

Testament- The Gathering

Exodus- Tempo of the Damned

AC/DC- I liked Stiff Upper Lip too...

Ok, I went with "good", but it works.

Metallica-Master of Puppets
Maiden-Dance of Death! (a must for anyone who has not YET heard it)
Motorhead-Not a fan
Megadeth-Not a fan
Judas Priest-Not a fan
Black Sabbath-love em, but never followed them closely
Danzig-Circle of snakes
Slayer-Like em, but never followed them closely
Anthrax-Not a fan
Dream Theater-Train of thought
Testament--Like em, never followed them closely though
Exodus-Tempo of the damned
AC/DC-Like em, but never followed them closely

I like her list, it's cool^. Reload was cool but I haven't heard it since it came out so I didn't pu it there.

I like Reload and it came out during my last year in College so it kinda brings back good memories :)
