MOSCOW/JERUSALEM. June 18 (Interfax) - The true reason for the cancellation of the guest performance by popular Russian duo Tatu in Israel is the lack of the Israeli audience's interest in the duo, and not visa problems, an official source in Israeli told Interfax. The performance was scheduled for June 19-20.
"Even at the initial stages of preparations for this guest performance, the Israeli organizer cancelled two concerts, including one in Haifa, and then it became known that the tickets had not been sold for the only remaining performance in Tel-Aviv," the source said.
The organizers' allegations that Tatu could not leave for Israel because the Israeli consulate in Moscow had denied them visas are "strange, to say the least."
"We are very unhappy about it and we believe that the attempt to cover the failure of the guest performance by accusations against government structures is strange," the source said
