There's lots of cool thrash bands that do not reek of stupid. Mekong Delta, Coroner, Sacred Reich, Deathrow, Midas Touch, Dark Angel, Hallow's Eve, Paradox, early Sieges Even, Megace at the top of my head.

If you ment non-stupid in all of metal then there's lots more examples. I don't think metal on the whole is the demiplane of Stupid.

Capeda's comment could not be more right, this one dude yelled slayer at the top of his lungs for an entire AWESOME Killswitch Engage set. we almost three him off the second level of the club.
