I suggest you to read the book "Lords of Chaos", it's about Norwegian blackmetal scene, very interesting book.

Great book. Started re-reading it the other day. Only thing I can't stand is hearing about Varg's bullshit nazi-ism, and Hellhammer's "look how cold-hearted I am" ranting.

Renske means "to clean/purify" or something along the lines of that in swedish, just without the "to", but the point is that its a verb

Liljekvist means lily-twig

Nyström means newstream

Norrmann almost means norwegian (it's pronounced the same, but written "nordmann")

Åkerfeldt means acre, or alternativly a field

You cannot be surprised at the confusion when 2 or 3 of the 5 Bloodbath promos have it misspelled. Most of the press will not doubt the info on them and use what they see.

I haven't checked the Katatonia or other Bloodbath CDs yet as they are all in a different room.

isn't the swedish verb "rensa"? Where does the K come from? I don't think the name Renkse has something to do with this...
btw it seems both forms exist, maybe Renske is slightly more spread than Renkse...
However it doesn't seem to be a popular Swedish name, I would be curious to see its origins...
As for the other surnames, it's always fun to give the translation of foreigner names! Liljekvist sounds sweet!

If indeed Renkse is the correct spelling, that makes only 2 out of 5 correct.

I must admit that I always thought of it as Renske though, again probably because it is easier for my English brain.
