James, any thoughts on the break up of Megadeth?

Megadeth used to be my favorite band (before I got into Nevermore) and the news of them breaking up this past week was shocking and disturbing...especially with the rumors flying around regarding Mustaine's relapse. I was just wondering what your opinion is in terms of Megadeth in general, the break up, Dave Mustaine, etc. I wish you continued success in your recovery and I can't wait to hear some music in the near future!

I was very saddened by Megadeth's all too early demise. I personally feel, that out of "The Big Four" Metal bands from the 80's, Megadeth was the one band that was still pushing boundaries, opening doors, and writing great tunes. Slayer got lost somewhere, Metallica is experimenting, and Anthrax has been, to me, dead since "Sound of White Noise." I am not trying to put those other 3 bands down, but Megadeth NEVER was embarrassed to say they were a Metal band, and Mustaine is a musical genious. I have a feeling Mustaine will reconsider his decision, if his body allows it. They were really starting to regain lost ground with the fans, and were making some really great headway in the scene again.

JAMES Rules by the way....I couldn't help myself.

Mustaine will always be one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Most of me is saddened by the break-up, but part of me isn't particularly upset as there is no need to water down such an impressive catalogue with another mediocre release (i.e. TWNAH).

I had been expecting this...lets face it megadeth wasnt getting any further in their music...i prefer the disolution of a band when there isnt any more paths to take...better that than then just get week and write week material just to please fan base...

The end of Megadeth isn't that bad of a thing. There last good album IMO was Cryptic, though the final disc was okay too. I didn't see much point in them continuing and didn't hear any fire in the band. Speaking of old thrashers, I'm interested in hearing what the new Testament and Anthrax will sound like.
