Jani Lane's daughter has fired back at his ex-manager over the late WARRANT singer's music catalog, insisting that he is not entitled to receive any money from her father's estate. TMZ reported last December that Jani's estate was being sued by Just Having Fun Productions, which claimed to have engineered a $3.75 million deal to sell a chunk of Jani's music to a publishing company. Just Having Fun filed the lawsuit because it said it had not yet gotten the 15 percent commission (approximately $562,000) it claimed to be entitled to, even after offering the estate a discount (12.5 percent, or $469,000). Just Having Fun sued for fraud and breach of contract, and requested the full $562,000. Earlier today, Bobbie Brown, Jani's ex-wife and the vixen in WARRANT's "Cherry Pie" video, released a statement from their daughter Taylar Jayne Lane in which the 26-year-old insisted that Lane's ex-manager was paid for any work he did following her father's death and claiming that the ex-manager had no authority to sell Jani's music catalogs. Taylar's full statement, as posted on Bobbie's Facebook page, reads as follows: "The TMZ article published regarding the lawsuit filed against my father's estate and its administrator by Obi Steinman is, about several aspects of the suit, erroneous in its description of the facts. However, Obi, the former 'manager' in question, was paid for any managerial work he did following my father's death and had no authority to sell his music catalogs, let alone to receive a portion of the assets made from that sale. His claims of entitlement are based on a 'verbal contract' he made with my father for 15% of all money incoming from royalties; not only was there no contract in writing entitling him to such, but even this verbal contract made no concessions for income received based on the sale of assets, including the sale of catalogs, songs, and other intellectual properties. Obi was offered a smaller settlement to spare myself and the other heirs the stress of having this all go to court, and he refused. Obi made himself filthy rich while my father was alive and now, since apparently it wasn't enough for him, would like to take more money from my father's estate and from his heirs: myself, my little sister, and his widow. Obi does not deserve an ounce of support or sympathy from the public, who don't know the details of our situation, nor does he deserve another cent of my father's money. He is owed nothing and hopefully nothing is what he will ultimately receive. All my sister and I want is for Obi to leave us alone." Jani also had a daughter from his second marriage, Madison Lane; and two stepdaughters, Ryan and Brittany. Lane died in August 2011 at age 47. Paramedics found his body in a Comfort Inn motel room in Woodland Hills, California, which is near Los Angeles. Lane had battled alcohol abuse for years. Lane recorded several albums with WARRANT in late 1980s and early 1990s but left the group several times. The band replaced him with Robert Mason and released its latest studio album, "Louder Harder Faster", in May 2017.
