I knew Jaxx - one of the most well-known metal venues on the East Coast - had changed ownership, but today was the first I had heard of its new name. A name change by itself isn't a big deal I guess, but I can't help but get a little nervous about a new direction for the venue. Shutting out Riot last week and not booking Y&T for the first time in forever only amplify that.

Yeah, it's not looking great, but I'll do everything in my power to keep that place alive.

I know it might be a dying dream, but gaddamn it, I REFUSE to believe the best place to catch metal in NoVA is fucking JAMMIN' JAVA. -_-

A venue is a venue. Some venues have in house talent buyers so the club can make a cut on the promoter's earnings, but it shouldn't really make a difference on what shows come and go there. Chances are, the reason for the lack of dates in that area has more to do with no local promoters wanting to pick up the package out of fear of losing money.

Having an owner who is committed to a style of music and its fans makes a big difference though.

I hope the new owners will book good bands and keep metal alive in northern Virginia... but so far it hasn't been very good, especially after the website makeover they did a few months ago. Not impressed so far.

I'm with ya.. HOWEVER! They did do a big CD release party for King Giant that was successful.

And uh.. ours is gonna be there on the 31st. BLOLOLOL
