Mmmmmmmm Betty!

Good to see you on here, Justin!

hey steve,, that prompted you to message me on myspace...i couldnt find your profile for some reason to see if you were going to the nevermore dvd show this month.....ive got tickets!!!!!

anyways what I am simply saying with this thread is that the ability of hedrix's playing has been surpassed time and time again... and some people are just willing to except that jimi was the best...... when he isnt even close.

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS "THE BEST" GODDAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But....Jimi Hendrix is unequivocally the greatest guitarist of all fucking time.

Here's a quote from some silly bitch who was friends with Eric Clapton -

"I was present at the Central London Poly gig where Eric Clapton first heard Jimi. Eric was living in my flat at the time. After Jimi's pyrotechnical performance, Eric was absolutely *DEFLATED* emotionally and uncharacteristically left the gig in a taxi with me and another roommate. During the ten-minute ride back to our flat he LAY ON THE FLOOR OF THE TAXI and literally MOANED in MISERY. He thought his career was over! We tried to comfort him--we were unimpressed with the musicality of Jimi's playing even though we were amused by his fabulous tricks. He refused to be comforted. "

Eric Clapton = one of the greatest guitarists ever
his friend = someone who doesn't play guitar

Some people who aren't musicians just won't hear things the way that others, including musicians, do. I swear, it took me 14 or 15 years of playing geetar to realize what the big deal about Jimi was. Nearly every musician (especially guitarists) worth their salt will tell you that Jimi was from another dimension.

There are many stories like this one about Jimi out there.

And just for the record, it's really, really, really hard to play Hendrix right.

The funny thing is that if you replaced one of their names with Fripp, this would be a far less subjective question.

now see, Its TRUE

but far less likely to find someone to agree to it than the subject at hand

That's true, but unlike in this thread, they'd be wrong if they didn't instinctively say Robert Fripp. And then we would stab them in indecipherable time signature patterns.

FUCK this thread. havent'r ead it. fuck it anyway.. What is better? Popcorn or Sudafed?! FUCK comparison threads.

This htread's poster vs a faggot with all holes plugged. The fag with all holes plugged! Because he isn't stupid neough to post this piece pof shit

I think "stupid" would apply if you were to assume I called you stupid from a simple comparison paragraph which DIDN'T even have YOU in the topic. You got 2 examples in that paragraph which are supportive. Taking a math test would be a bitch if you didn't have modern technology, right. And, which is greater...the teacher or the student who excelled. So, YOU take the pill. No comment on the "ass" portion of your reply. You're reveling a Freudian inferiority trait which I choose not to capitalize on...at this time.

.... speak english

Hendrix changed the way people looked at the electric guitar.

Hendrix >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Loomis

comparing loomis to hendrix is stupid.
Mostly comparing ABSTRACT things that cannot be measured is stupid.
I can say that x=5cm and y=7cm, thus y>x a statement which is correct any day of the week no matter how you put it, and no matter how drunk you are (will? myself?).
Well, guitar playing does not have a measuring system that everyone accepts, like it is with seconds, minutes, hours etc for time, or with the metric system for measurments. You cannot say jeff=10 meters hendrix=11, thus hendrix>jeff. Because it is stupid, and mathematically impossible, as in music more phenomena occur, than one, that it cannot be measured. Does it make sense?
it kinda does, for me at least

Jeff is a metal guitarist, while hendrix is a blues guitarist. blues and metal don\'t have many common things, maybe except the use of the pentatonic scale by some metal guitarists, like (i know i\'m gonna get bashed for this) kirk hammett.
Hendrix was the god in his music according to me, but i didn\'t listen to that much blues so my opinion is worthless.
jeff is also a god in metal.

Conclusion:
jeff&hendrix>children of bodom>alexi laiho>alexi laiho\'s pennis>this thread>the poster of this thread. now the world will end mwuhaha

That is very constructive  I dont bash musicians for using pentatonics, there is no reason to...allthough diatonics are a little more exotic you can still shred without them. I know without a doubt that Jimi had a lot of fire in his playing ( I've popped a couple tripple stackers in the past it makes me bend the notes more) and he was inovative in his dynamics as well as effects. Yes they are completely different styles.... The only thing that I am saying is that Jimi wasnt the peak of guitarists skills. Jeff applies more complex musical forumulas at greater speeds and sounds a lot tighter when he plays and his guitar is in tune.
