It's a pretty nebulous anouncement, but if I have faith in any one musician, it's JP. Regardless of what he puts together, I'm sure it will be awesome, moving, and kickass.

JIMMY PAGE To Debut New Music Next Year - Dec. 16, 2009 According to Lemon Squeezings, LED ZEPPELIN guitar legend Jimmy Page has revealed that he will be debuting some of his new music next year.

Sky News was taping an interview (see below) with Page and "It Might Get Loud" director Davis Guggenheim, discussing the movie prior its London premiere yesterday, which saw Page making a rare public appearance.

"Next year, I have every intention of playing music live and making it — manifesting it. I've got it," Page stated during the chat. "I've got it there. I've got the music waiting. It just needs to be done. So that's it. That's what I'll be doing."

"It's been two years [since the LED ZEPPELIN reunion concert at the O2 arena in London on December 10, 2007!" added Page. "Two years since the O2. It's time to do that," he said, referring to sharing the new music he has ready to be heard.

New music is great and I'm really looking forward to it but what is LONG overdue is the release of a CD or DVD of the O2 concert.

I don't know if you'll see the DVD come out. I heard, and it was just a rumor, that Plant put the squash on that, since he didn't like the way he sounded. Might not be true, but then again I think it would have hit the street by now. No reason not to put it out, as any investment in Zep will payback ten fold, so there might be some truth to this rumor.

I love Zep, and Robert too, but at this point I'd just prefer they do something like get together with Paul Rodgers or someone (Jimmy and John Paul). It would be more interesting. I was very keen to see the reunion show via DVD, but don't much mind not having it. There's plenty of killer stuff out there, including their DVD from a few years back (Awesome, that one is), and what clips I saw of the reunion were great, but not necessarily essential to own. A cool event, but I don't know if it was stellar so far as performance is concerned.

....of course, I'll buy it the day it comes out, if come out it does. So, take that all with a grain of salt.

Anyone heard Them Crooked Vultures? I haven't heard anything, their album has been out for over a month now. They played in Portland and sold out the show...

The Crooked Vultures album is worth checking out. Sounds like bastard child of QOTSA & Physical Grafitti-era Zep (as would be expected). Songs aren't incredibly memorable... I wish that that they would have pulled in a more dynamic vocalist instead of letting Josh Homme handle all the vox.

I thought that there were rumors of Page, JPJ & Jason Bonham bringing in a new vocalist after Plant jumped ship... Dunno if they would try to play under the name Led Zeppelin.

I might have to pick up a copy of that after Christmas...
Homme doesn't have the most memorable of vocal.
I'd also rather hear Dave Grohl singing than Josh...

There were public statements a few months back about it not working out. The couldn't find a vocalist they felt worked, but tried a few high(ish) profile names. In the end the decided to just give it up.

I can't stand Grohl, so I'm glad he's not singing.

jimmy page has released 1 good album since 1980 so i have no faith in anything he does now. the firm was corporate rock saved by paul rodgers outstanding vocals and the best solo on either firm album is played by paul rodgers. page's solo album outrider is dated 80's rock with 1 good tune. the page/coverdale album is the gem of page's post zeppelin work. great riff, vocals and solos. the 2 page/plant albums are a bore. unplugged is decent enough but jimmy's guitar work is not up to snuff and plants voice is pretty weak. walkin into clarksdale is so boring i could use the album as a cure for insomnia. "shining in the light" is the only tune that stands out

I like Outrider. It's very different from the Zep vibe in it's way, I'll grant you that. But I feel like it is full of Jimmy's sense of melody and such....
I agree his output hasn't been stellar, but I think of that as having more to do with the people he's been hooked up with and producers. I can hear a spark in his compositions, and that certain Jimmy-ness. I didn't think the Firm was terrible, but I agree it should have been way, way better judging by the folks involved.

Anyway, I think it's time. I think he's gotten the funny stuff out of his system, and he'll come with something strong.

Hard telling but easy for me to not expect too much. Presense was the pretty much the end of it for me with only a few standout songs here and there since. Im not sure Presence was even up to snuff with most of Physical Graffiti, they and he just lost the magic somewhere. Firm didnt fly for me and Rogers didnt help that either. Coverdale Page had two potential stand out songs but something got all screwy with the way he put Prayer for the Dying together I cant even give that the strong vote it initially sounded like it deserved, it ended up haveing a very forced feel to it. Outrider had some good blues, the Plant song was far from par. I dont know, its all been a sad state of affairs and I find it best to just remember them from the early work. If great stuff was still jumping out of Page like it should when creativity just keeps knocking on the door we would have alot more material the past 3 decades. I'd say the sparsity of that in itself is defining. Plants various dablings over the years were more interesting and yet he sucks as a "Led Zeppelin" vocalist today. They ruled the early - mid 70's and it seems it was just a matter of luck.
