Hi guys,

Here is the deal. Earlier this month we recorded a 5 song EP in a studio. Last Friday they sent us the final mix of the first song and we hated it. So we asked for the tracks and they just sent them to us.
Now we need someone to mix the EP for us yesterday.

This time we don't want to commit to working with anyone before hearing that they can do a good job in our particular case.
Is anyone interested in doing a demo mix of the same song for us (a minute or 30 seconds is fine), so we can hear some mixes and decide which one we like best?

Here is the mix we got from the studio, so that you can get an idea of the style and what we DON'T want it to sound like. We need more of a wall of sound thing (which should be easily achievable if they hadn't removed 70% of the keyboards and one of the lead guitar parts).

Some other points of interest:

- We don't have a DI guitar track. The guitarist wanted this particular sound, so that's that. The guitars did sound MUCH better before they were mixed though.
- The drums have been programmed using Steven Slate Drums. A midi file can be provided if anyone needs one.
- All editing has been completed except for some of the backing vocals of the other 4 songs. If anyone is interested in doing what's left of the editing as well (meaning melodyne for my shitty backing singing) that would be cool. If not, I'll have to do it myself.
- The "tracks" they sent us are actually a bunch of folders with lots of reaper and audio files inside. So it'd be best if you work with reaper, so I don't have to export everything.
- Everything is recorded in 48 kHz, 24 bit.

Rhythm guitars are practically non existant in that mix. Do you have a budget for this? And a deadline? I'll do a test mix if at least I know I could accept the budget you have, but of course I'm aware you might find someone you prefer that you can equally afford. I'm not expensive, but sometimes I'm shocked by what some bands/guys expect to pay, if you know what I mean.

I like the song, sounds like Tristania in a way, I love Tristania.

Edit: Right, about the deadline, I'm going on vacation this Thursday until the 12th of this month, so if there's a tight deadline it would be impossible for me to make it anyways, so if that's so, best of luck anyways!

You are right about the Tristania influence - I love Tristania. And Sirenia too.

About the deadline - the end of August, maybe early September. How does that sound? We are not in a hurry, we want the job done right.
About the budget - saving money is not an issue for us right now, we want the best possible mix.

Also, even though it's a headache on your part you'd probably get much more interest in this if you weren't limiting yourself to Reaper users. Food for thought.

Is the bass DI?

Hi, if you send me all the tracks (included DIs, midi and BPMs) I could make a demo mix of one song. I get the band idea, love old Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Amorphis and Anathema. I'm a Mac/Pro Tools user, but I could open the session in Reaper and export all the tracks to Pro Tools.

I'm not limiting myself to reaper users by no means. I am exporting the tracks as we speak. :)
We have both DI and amped tracks for the bass.

Ok, I exported the tracks and as soon as they are done uploading I will start sending links to everyone who asked for the tracks. No reaper files, just audio. Oh, and I've also included the midi file for the drums, because several people asked for it.

I will do a clip when I get off in a couple hours. Maybe thumb through your criteria and if I can meet your deadline I'll cut you a deal. Seeing as I have no clients right now, haha.
