Firstly, the albums been delayed:

The release of ICED EARTH's forthcoming album, The Glorious Burden,
and new single, `The Reckoning', have been pushed back in order to
have a proper set up for the releases.

`The Reckoning' single will now be released in North America on
October 21st (October 27th in Europe), and The Glorious Burden album
will now come out on January 13th, 2004 (January 12th in Europe)
through SPV.

As previously reported, `The Reckoning' single features the following
tracks: `The Reckoning (Don't Tread On Me)', ` When The Eagle Cries'
(unplugged), `Valley Forge' and `Hollow Man'.

Secondly, and VERY disturbingly, the singles leaked on the net and these are the lyrics for When The Eagle Cries. These are not made up, im assured they are the real thing.

Another day, just like any other
out of the blue, it turned to horror
How could they? Why would they?
The innocents suffered hell's inferno
An senseless act that goes unforgotten
How could they? They will pay.
Chorus:
When the Eagle Cries (5x) (Yep FIVE **KING TIMES)
Out of the ashes came a tempted vengeance,
but we are focused, we seek redemption
we are free, we'll stay free
All they've done, is make us stronger
The sleeping giant, is asleep no longer
If need be, we'll die free
Chorus:
When the Eagle Cries (blood will flow)
When the Eagle Cries (for freedom's fight)
When the Eagle Cries (we love us all)
When the Eagle Cries (we'll sacrifice)
When the Eagle Cries
When the Eagle Cries (blood will flow)
When the Eagle Cries they ??? made us stronger (for freedoms fight)
When the Eagle Cries we'll sacrifice (we love us all)
When the Eagle Cries for freedom's fight (we'll sacrifice)
When the Eagle Cries

The only thing that can POSSIBLY save this album in my eyes now is the Civil War trilogy, but now im expecting:

"Big guns go bang
People get hurt
He looks to the sky
Red blood on his shirt

Oooooooooooh Civil War!"

Orright then (as Jamie Oliver would say), that means I've got one less thing to buy in October and more time to save for it when it does come out.

How are those lyrics any worse than some of the drek Ripper got saddled with in Priest? He could sing the phone book and make it sound good.

They are ridiculous I think... Too over the top. Perhaps when I hear the track it will sound ok, but even hard core Iced Earth fans have been saying its a generic, crap song...

Hmm. You never know, it might work out okay. Some of the lyrics from the other IE albums are shithouse, some a quite good....

Think about it though, the one line is repeated 10 times, but the same thing happens in every 2nd Maiden song... And the maiden songs don't always sound bad with the repetition (although alot fo the time they do :p)

The hollow man chorus is pretty shit, but it's an alright song to listen to/..

I know but they werent shithouse in the same way as these ones, they just sound so childish to me...

Hollow Man is such a by the numbers IE ballad im surprised the band didnt fall asleep while doing it :)

The Reckoning sounds like the gay power metal songs that Jon always says he hates in the chorus...

Red Baron is ok, nothing brilliant though, but alright just the same.

When The Eagle Cries is supposedly alright, but nothing special yet again, and the lyrics are a bit too... Sillyish...

Valley Forge was supposedly ok, but not that great...

I. See. A. Pattern.

:)

The more I find out about this album, the more im beginning to think Matt decided being shot at by terrorists was preferable to having to record the songs... Perhaps im being too harsh, but nothing has impressed me about the album yet.

"Oh look out hes got a gun
Everybodies on the run
Here they go, its time to shoot
While that young man laces his boot

Ooooooooooooooooooh Civil War!"

"I drive along
Foot to the floor
But it's not safe here any more
Shit, some bastard shot me

Ooooooooooooooooh Civil War!"

Nope... Maybe the tracks we havent heard are the best the band has ever done though... Maybe... :)
