JEFF SCOTT SOTO Named Official New Lead Singer Of JOURNEY - Dec. 19, 2006

WITHIN TEMPTATION Signs U.S. Licensing Deal With ROADRUNNER RECORDS - Dec. 19, 2006

Psyched about the JSS news!
Soto has been singing the hell out of Journey tunes over the past few months.

JEFF SCOTT SOTO Named Official New Lead Singer Of JOURNEY - Dec. 19, 2006 Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, SOUL SIRKUS) has been officially named the new lead singer of JOURNEY. He had been filling in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the U.S. tour with DEF LEPPARD shortly after it began on June 23 due to illness.

"We are so grateful to Steve for all the years he dedicated to JOURNEY," says JOURNEY in a joint statement. "We thank Steve for all his hard work and we wish him only the best in his future endeavors. Over the past few months, we've come to realize that Jeff has proven himself above and beyond that he can sing the hell out of our songs and we're happy to officially welcome him as part of the family. We're excited to start a new chapter with Jeff and we're excited about what the future may bring.”

Steve Augeri states: "Singing for JOURNEY these last eight years have been the most challenging and the most rewarding of my career. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the band, and especially the fans, for the privilege of being part of a musical legacy that has touched so many hearts and souls. I wish my fellow bandmates success and happiness as they continue to make great music in the future, as I will strive to do the same myself."

Jeff Soto also adds, "With delight and pleasure, I am accepting the offer to continue my tenure with JOURNEY now as their permanent vocalist after the amazing past months we've spent together on tour. I also pay high respect to Steve Augeri for coming in and helping JOURNEY continue their legacy for nearly the last decade and to Steve Perry for co-creating this legacy. I hope to now add and help drive JOURNEY into the next stage of this band's future."

Since Soto's first appearance with Journey on July 7 in Bristow, VA, his performances have been garnering rave reviews.

Steve Augeri is currently recording his debut solo album, "In the Moment", due out the summer of 2007. He's also putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated follow-up to the AOR classic TALL STORIES album, launching early next year.

JOURNEY — Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jeff Scott Soto (vocals) — are currently mapping out plans for 2007.

Just remember it now also means that they are on a subsidiary of Warner. There's some money that can go into this. Especially if they want to market it to steal Evanescence sales or something.

Considering what Roadrunner did to help Dragonforce... dude, Within Temptation is about to take off. They're not that heavy - they could fit in on top 40 stations easily, given enough pushing.

That is awesome news about JSS. He totally deserves the job with Journey!!

I love knowing I have been listening to JSS for 22+ years when NOBODY had heard of him when he was in Yngwie's band, then watching him grow over the years and Finally hitting the big time singing for Journey. JSS is one of the best melodic singers out there and deserves the new success from being in Journey.

Well, this just goes to show the power of preferences! The addition of Jeff Scott Sotto GUARANTEES a ticket sale to me! This is great!

I think that JSS is also no Steve Augeri...and I would hope the band would take a new direction with a diff lead singer. Augeri was a great transition for the band because he could hit all the high notes Perry could hit when Perry first came to the band. JSS sounds more like Perry did on Perry's first solo album...the pipes are showing some wear. Not a lot, but just enough to turn me off. If he has been singing the same way for 22 years, then you cannot expect MUCH of a dropoff in his voice...I will put my appreciation of new Journey material on hold until I hear a studio album.

Agreed! He is excellent!

l've followed Yngwie since his beginnings with Steeler, Alcatrazz, then solo. So...yeah l know a little about JSS. He had a cool fro when he was with Yngwie. :u-huh:
Yes he did, I still have to chuckle when I look at the pictures of him from those days!!

Greykiller, with all do respect, listen to JSS's latest solo album, Lost In Translation, and tell me he's not going to be a perfect fit for Journey. Hell, it was like he made that disc to try out for the band! :zombie:
