hahah! Look a them helmet thing. Now I know what to buy you for Christmas.
HAHAAA! I know, i saw that and I was like OMG!O$JTQWI(!!
The only bad thing is that me and the gf have no cable, so our chances of actually seeing televised games on ESPN are slim unless I hit a sports bar or someone else's house. I guess there's always the online internet broadcasts from good ol' WNUR.

and yes, that helmet thing rules. i may have to look into getting one.

Chalk that one up as a loss for the WildKittens.

NO WAY HOSER. If all goes according to plan, I will actually be at this Homecoming Game. We went to the one last yr and they lost, but it was a damn good time. They have a BEER TENT for alumni, which is quite possibly the greatest return I've seen thus far on my tuition expenses.

We don't have a beer tent but I can walk into any pre game party thrown by college students and start drinking for free due to the alumn status. Of course I don't do that though basically cuz there is no way I can start drinking at 8 in the am anymore.

Wildcats Top Jayhawks in Rain, 28-20
Jason Wright leads the way with 196 rushing yards and four touchdowns

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Jason Wright rushed for a career-high-tying 196 yards and four touchdowns as Northwestern beat Kansas 28-20 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams. The game was played in steady to heavy rain.

Northwestern forced five Jayhawk turnovers, including four in the first half when the Wildcats jumped out in front 14-0.

"It was a tough night for football," said Wildcats coach Randy Walker, "but I was real happy how we handled the elements. There were a couple bizarre plays that went against us in the second half, but we responded well."

On the strength of 18- and 4-yard second-quarter scoring runs by Wright, Northwestern led 14-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Jayhawks opened with a 62-yard drive, but a 20-yard field goal attempt by Johnny Beck hit the left upright and NU took over on downs.

Northwestern was marching toward a three-touchdown lead, but on a long fourth-and-one from the Kansas 17, Wright was dropped for a loss of six yards on an option play.

Three plays later, Kansas quarterback Bill Whittemore scrambled around in the backfield, only to find Mark Simmons who ran to the right sideline for a 73-yard score.

On the Wildcats' next possession, a Brett Basanez pass deflected off the hip of receiver Ashton Aikens, into the hands of KU's David McMillan, who raced 31 yards for the game-tying score.

Wright countered for the 'Cats, scoring on a 1-yard scamper. With his 196 rushing yards, he moved from 15th place to 11th on NU's all-time rushing list. Wright now has 1,433 career yards.

Leading 21-14, Northwestern punter Brian Huffman could not handle a low snap, which allowed Ronnie Amadi to block his kick. Darren Rus picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown. But holder Curtis Ansel bobbled the snap on the point-after attempt, leaving the Jayhawks down 21-20 with 5:03 remaining.

Northwestern recovered immediately, as Terrell Jordan scampered 40 yards to get the Wildcats close before another Kansas mistake -- this time an encroachment penalty on fourth down -- led to Wright's fourth score of the game, putting Northwestern ahead 28-20.

The first serious rain in drought-stricken northeastern Kansas in weeks began early in the day and grew into an unrelenting downpour by the second quarter. It soaked the turf at Memorial Stadium and left deep puddles on the sidelines and track surrounding the field.

Torri Stuckey's interception of Bill Whittemore, and Marvin Ward's of Brian Luke, led to both of Wright's first-half touchdowns. Whittemore, last year's Big 12 newcomer of the year, finished 12-of-28 for 240 yards. Luke, meanwhile, went 1-of-2 with the interception during a brief appearance late in the first half for a shaken-up Whittemore. Basanez was 23-of-36 for 219 yards with an interception for Northwestern. Clark Green led Kansas with 79 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Badgers Win Season Opener 24-17

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin football team (1-0) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind and beat the West Virginia Mountaineers (0-1) 24-17 in Morgantown, W. Va. With the scored tied at 17 and 2:57 remaining in the game, running back Anthony Davis scored the game-winning touchdown on a two-yard run to give the Badgers their first victory of the season. Davis led all rushers with 167 yards on 30 carries.

West Virginia had a final chance to rally in the closing minutes, but a pair of stellar plays by linebacker Alex Lewis thwarted the Mountaineer comeback effort. With just under three minutes remaining, Lewis broke up a pass as West Virginia tried to convert on third down. On the following play, Lewis sacked Mountaineer quarterback Rasheed Marshall on fourth down to force a turnover on downs and seal the victory for the Badgers.

Wisconsin special teams play helped the Badgers get on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of the contest. With 13:44 on the clock in the first quarter Lewis blocked a Todd James punt that rolled back into the Wisconsin end zone and was eventually recovered by Kareem Timbers to give the Badgers an early 7-0 advantage. However, the Mountaineers answered with a touchdown on the following drive and would score 17 unanswered points to take a 17-7 lead early in the third quarter. With 5:36 remaining in the third quarter kicker Scott Campbell made a 29-yard field goal attempt to break a Badgers scoreless drought that lasted nearly three quarters.

Lee Evans, who has not played in a game since Nov. 24, 2001 due to a knee injury, had a successful comeback game catching seven passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. On third down with 12 yards to go and the Badgers trailing by a touchdown, quarterback Jim Sorgi scrambled and found a leaping Evans who fought off a defender and broke a pair of tackles to dive into the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown reception. Campbell added the extra point to knot the score at 17 in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.

Sorgi completed 20 of 34 passes for 216 yards. The senior captain also had a solid game on the ground scampering for 47 yards on nine carries. Sorgi threw to six different Badger targets in the game, including Brandon Williams (seven catches for 89 yards) and former backup quarterback Owen Daniels (three catches for 41 yards).

After yielding a touchdown early in the third quarter, the Wisconsin defense shut out the Mountaineer offense in their final five possessions of the game. The Badger defense forced two sacks and limited West Virginia to 137 passing yards.

With the win today, the Badgers have now won six straight season openers. Wisconsin is now 87-25-3 in season openers, including 10-4 under Head Coach Barry Alvarez.

Wisconsin’s home opener is Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. (CDT) when the Badgers host Akron at Camp Randall. For more information call 1-800-GO-BADGERS or log onto www.uwbadgers.com.

My schoool lost every homecoming game for aroun five years, always against the next worse team in the state. So th next year they rigged it... and they still lost

Although it's kin of funy that I could easily knock anyone on our football team over and they won't stop telling me to join.... I can't wait until I'm in college.... DAMN YOU!!!!!

okay, so the Wildcats didn't win last weekend.
But they sure did better than I thought. Air Force won their game the first week 49-0, and i thought the cats would lose big. But they actually should've won the game; they were winning 21-7 up to 5 minutes left in the game. but they turned the ball over like 2-3 times and lost 22-21.

This week I have no clue. Sometimes Miami of Ohio is easy, sometimes not.

It's Miami of Ohio. They better win. Wisconsin will be 3-0 after this weekend and should move up a little higher in the polls. We play UNLV. Everyone on that team always has money on the Badgers so it's not a problem. Davis should have around 600-650 total yards on the season after the game too.

AWESOME GAME. Much better in person. We tailgated, got free Goose Island beer, and went to The Onion afterward (HIGHLY recommended- the brewer gave me a taste of the pumpkin ale even though it's not officially released until Halloween). Great food- you guys should check it out.

(sorry i missed you guys; we didn't get back to their house until like 9pm. how was everything?)
