Grand Rapids-based progressive thrashers, Kaptain Kollnot, are excited to reveal that their new EP, entitled The Aquarius Shift, will be released on July 18 on the main digital streaming platforms. The Aquarius Shift still sees the participation of Stu Block (Into Eternity, ex-Iced Earth) behind the microphone – working with the project since 2022’s album The Future Human.
The Aquarius Shift, showcasing four songs for over 25 minutes of musical experience, is a focused and intense collection of songs dealing with themes such as the evolution and unification of the human race. A foretaste of what you might expect from the EP is now available with the song “A New World”, available as a visualizer video. Watch below.
Kaptain Kollnot is a metal project from Michigan run by Jeff Kollnot. The project started in 2018 and released its first record, The Colorado Archive, in the summer of 2019. This was a fairly diverse and personal record that established several of the project’s core elements: thrash rhythm guitars, harmonized guitars, shred-influenced solos, fast tempos, and precise drumming. Kollnot handled all the instruments on this record (excepting drums).
The next release Future Human was released in September 2022. This was a significant step forward for the project as it is the first featuring the vocal work of Stu Block. The songs themselves became more aggressive, complex, and far more overtly “metal”.
The Aquarius Shift was produced, mixed and mastered by CJ Gardineer at Red Wolf Studio in Michigan, USA. Cover and logo designs by Katie Goto. Pre-order here.
