I have the first 2 books of Jordan's Wheel of Time series but have not started it. Is it that good that even though it meanders a bit you would still finish out the series? I don't want to start a series that is only going to piss me off in the end.

I recommend the Jaran series by Kate Eliott: Jaran, His Conquering Sword, Earthly Crown and The Law of Becoming. It is fantasy in the vein of Jordan with a smidge of scifi thrown in. I also recommend China Mieville's Perdito Street Station and The Scar (haven't read others yet). It's fantasy but with more steampunk than medieval flavors. Irrespective both were a great read.

Yea it's a good read up to around 7 as Lioness said. After it can get a bit annoying but i don't find it to detract so much that i would totally abandon the story. I'm pretty sure it will be worth it once the last volume is released but that remains to be seen so give it a shot if you have the time and energy :D
I'll keep an eye out for those titles as well then get back if i find/read them. If this thread is still active by that point in time. Thank you

WHOOOOOO SONG OF ICE AND FIRE! George RR Martin is possibly my favorite author ever. I'm going to be camping out bookstores waiting for A Feast of Crows to come out.

Terry Pratchet rules, nuff said. Robert Jordan...feh. Boring, disorganized, and hackneyed. Ever notice how all his characters keep sniffing, crossing their arms, and tugging at their braids or whatever? Same endlessly annoying mannerisms every few pages.

I'll check out that book you recommended, Lizard.
