Killswitch Enage Microphones - Howard Jones

I'm not sure sure about this myself...there are plenty of noticeable little nuances in their playing that would have been difficult to overdub in a visually realistic way, some botched squeals here and there, and I think plenty of guitar stuff that doesn't really seem perfect and overdubbed to me. As for the previous comment, proclaiming the amount of squeals on the DVD to be evidence that there was overdubbing...every time I've seen them live, they do precisely that- hit a ridiculous amount of squeals!

I saw them back in Jan, and while there might be a little bit of overdubbing for their live DVD, I can safely say, when I saw them (second time btw) that they were even better live than on the record. Flawless performance each time.

Haha, fair enough. I've only seen a few of the tracks, but that really did stand out to me. I thought it sounded like squeals do when zakk wylde does them on record which is like 9 guitars or whatever. But the amount of editing that goes into ADR at the moment, I would be surprised if it was particularly difficult to emulate a live performance.

Ill have to watch the whole dvd at some point.

cupping the mic does sound bad, and i doubt howard would do it for "effect" rather than out of necessity. probably trying to isolate the mic from the noise on the stage for a more direct sound. I find myself cupping when i do vocals, not for the proximity or "distorted" tone, more so to drown out interference from the loud amps and drums and to stop feedback. anyone else have any thoughts on this?

ther article in Mix says: e609, e904, sm58, sm57, beta 52, 91, 98d/s, 58, 57, neumann ksm109, ksm32, audix om7, at4050. It doesn't say which is the main vocal mic.

i saw a pic of him in the studio from the recording of their last album, and it showed him singing into a U87 and(i'm pretty sure) a TLM103 set up side-by-side
