Check out this cover I did of King Diamond's A Mansion in Darkness here: http://yukki.no-ip.org/satanicdirge/music/satanic_dirge-a_mansion_in_darkness.mp3 and let me know what you think. I'd also appreciate more diagnosis of my current mixing "skills". I've been taking what I have learned here and trying to put it to action, but there is still a large lack of high-end in my mix that can't be fixed by equalizing the high end up.. That just results in a scratchy, unpleasurable sound.

Thanks mateys! And rokk tha fark' on!

I just played it again and noticed there is some crackling... how the heck do I get it to be a normal volume without the crackling? It's not even a normal volume yet and it is screwed up.... There's got to be a reason it is like this, eh?

I'd say for starters drop those guitars down in volume. I can barely hear the drums at all here. Really concentrate on getting these drums to sound good, and the mix should fix itself up a bit.

In terms of getting the song louder, its all about compressing and limiting in the mastering stage, which is a very hard thing to get right. I'd say, for now don't worry about it :goggly: Anyway, good try man, keep at it!

 lmao

Very entertaining.
I'm sorry, but I think only King Diamond can get away with singing King Diamond songs with that high voice.
I did enjoy that though...thanks, Oh my god.

Great song from a classic album. All hail the king!

Thanks for the kind words, I think? Radd... :)

I think if you'll download it now, you will get an updated version with some limiting. I don't know if it is much louder now, but it doesn't have the crackles... How exactly would I apply compression successfully? To raise up the bulk of the sound to be more level with the high-end (loud crashes)?
