Ok, I was talking about Kirk Hammet in general and not based only on the last years. As a lead guitarist I think he is better and that's not going to change since I'm talking about technique which can't really change for the worst (even if hearing his solos now you may get that impression :))

I wasn't aware constantly out of tune bends and vibrato, and frequently misses notes in a solo constituted good technique.
I guess Chris Broderick or Peter Wichers (and the list goes on) were doing it wrong when they decided he would get his vibrato and bends in tune, and you know, ACTUALLY HIT ALL THE NOTES in a solo:goggly:

I wasn't aware I mentioned chris broderick or peter wichers or any other guitarist in my post. I was comparing him to Mustaine, and in my opinion he is a much better lead guitarist.

My point is that, regardless of whom you compare Hammett too, his technique is absolutely fucking atrocious.
It doesn't matter that Kirk is better than say, what Sid Vicious was on bass, he is still absolute suck on guitar, period.

Well, I disagree. His technique is not in the same league as the guitarists you mentioned but it's far from atrocious.
I really enjoy many of his solos of the 82-91 era.
