METALLICA Guitarist HAMMETT Selling California Home For $12.5 Million: Photos Available - July 24, 2006
According to SF.Curbed.com, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett is selling his Pacific Heights, California house for $12.5 million. The Georgian Mansion with 9,519 square feet, nine bedrooms, seven full baths, three half baths, a library, and a "billiard/family room" includes "a deep grassy garden and detached 2-car side-by-side garage," according to a posting on Hammett's realtors' web site. "The gated motor court affords ample off-street parking. Faithfully maintained and upgraded for more than a century, this property is among a select handful of timeless classics...at one of the City's very best locations."

as much as I think Kirk is the "good" guy out of the group, it bothers me to know how much money those Metallidicks have, considering the last time they released something worthwhile, I was in the 5th grade.

I was all set to whip out my checkbook... until I saw that "detatched garage".

Hey, you think the realtor would have taken a post-dated check?

Signing an airtight contract and selling millions of records tends to reap rewards. So Metallica should give away their recordings for free, so they can stay TROO? Nobody says Tom Cruise is a sell-out for getting $30 million plus backend Mission Impossible III.

you missed my point completely. What I meant was, it sucks to see how much money they have when the only quality shit they ever produced, was pre-1990. And even Justice could have used a bit better production. Even if they offered their post-justice shit for free, it would still be a rip-off because the quality of songwriting fuckin' blows. I never even said the word sell-out and Tom Cruise is a closet fag.

Ah, that tired old story. Well OK.

I realize that it's a tired story, but to me it's not that they got less heavy or sold out, but that the songs don't seem up to par. Shit, it doesn't have to be metal to be good, I'm diverse, but these guys seem to have lost it. Doesn't mean I won't buy the new album though. I always have hope for them.

I disagree (with the exception of St. Anger), I love the Loads. To each their own.
