KISS recently announced the upcoming KISS Army Storms Vegas event, taking place November 14–16 at Virgin Hotel Las Vegas.
Gene Simmons talked about the event in a new interview with Kyle Meredith, which can be viewed below.
Description: Gene Simmons says rock is dead. Again. And also that opera sucks, Broadway is confusing, critics are failed musicians, and he’s having more fun than the Pope. In this new Kyle Meredith With…, the KISS legend returns to talk about the 50th anniversary of Dressed To Kill, the KISS Army’s Las Vegas takeover, and why “Rock and Roll All Nite” still matters even if it was never a “hit single” in the traditional sense.
Simmons discusses his new film company (Simmons/Hamilton Films), why young bands are stuck in an industryless industry, and story behind fan-favorite “Spit.” There’s also some light praise for Isaac Asimov, a tangent on why Wet Leg wouldn’t survive 1975, and a personal shoutout to Kyle’s mom.
In regards to KISS Army Storms Vegas, Simmons offers, “They’re [the fans] are putting it on, The KISS Army, in November, is a gathering of the tribes. They’re gonna take over the Virgin Hotel, although it bears noting, you don’t have to be a virgin. These are semantics, but I’m not anti-semantic.
“We promised we’re not gonna go back out on tour, and we’re not. We’ll jump up and do some tunes. There’ll be friends, guests dropping in, question & answer, you know, just be close with the fans, because clearly without them I’d be asking the next person in line, ‘would you like some fries with that?'”
Simmons recently spoke with 94.3 The Shark host, Rob Rush, about the upcoming event, and revealed, “This is much more a fan gathering. The KISS Army, self-named, self-styled, are taking over the Virgin Hotel and we will show up, but I don’t even know if the entire band’s gonna be there. I know Paul and I are gonna be there, and Tommy. Bruce Kulick probably will show up, and we’ll jam, answer questions and stuff. It ain’t a concert, we’re gonna do none of that stuff. I may even bring my solo band up there just for bleeps and giggles – see the way I didn’t say that word? Yeah, so this is more a fan event, like a fan gathering that we’re gonna be guests at.”
