I just receiverd my new monitors....
AWESOME! they make me want to mix all the recent stuff I did on the Genelecs and Yamahas again...so much more depth, so honest, such a great stereo-image and just.....YEAH!

Can't wait to put them in a proper room (new studio) since my current improvised mixing-place sucks MAJOR ass frequencywise....
not the cheapest but I can only highly recommend these. best speakers I've ever worked on.

so much that it hurts-----
but only until you're working for the first time on it....

I just did a 30min mix of one song that I've been working on for 2 days on the Genelecs....the 30min K&H mix sounds and translates way better!

they're just incredible!
the pair is about 3300€

How much are those? And do you know any stores in North Germany to give them a test listen?

yes, the best store is right in Hamburg "Digital Audio Service" (that'*s where I bought'em

feel free to come to my place when it's finished and give them a listen

Did you demo any of the other monitors in their class? I'm getting ready to starting shopping for new monitors and these are on my list to check out.

Others I'm considering are ADAM S3A, Barefoot MM27, and the Focal SM8s. If you had a chance to compare any of these with the O300s I would love to hear your thoughts.

Its tough to find reviews from metal guys.

Hey Dave, I've only compared them to the Adams which are great as well.
I just had the feeling that I could judge the "depth" better on the K&H.
Plus I want to mix AND mastering on them and all that without an additional sub, so the lows were really important for me, and I think that (at least without a sub) the very deep lows were better on the K&H.
Plus they have a really good stereo-field and that not only in direct mixing-position (so the A&R guy can judge as well (or could if he had any clue about how something should sound)....the S3A go louder though ;) )
the S3A sound really good, I just had the feeling that the K&H make me mix faster and my mixes translate better.
probably just perlonal taste I guess.

...wow you are rich!
Hehe, by far not....the opposite is pretty much the case ;)
I just don't own a car or go out in the weekends and work 16hrs the day 7 days/week....
It's my job so I gotta spend something to work properly.....
I'd loved to spend that much in guitars or whatever but a good monitoring system is really a big help and improves the workflow-->let's you mix faster and better-->improves your work--->gets you clients-->more money for more gear-->still only toast and noodles ;)

Thanks for the insight man! I will more than likely end up trying to demo all of those before I purchase any of them. I would also like to avoid getting a system with a separate sub as well. The K&Hs and the barefoots seam to be the best for that.

Nice, Lasse! K&H are awesome. I'm happy to hear they're working out for you.

Then again, after going thru 4 sets of monitors in the last 8 years, I don't think I'm gonna give up my ASP8's any time soon.
