KORN singer Jonathan Davis spoke with The You Rock Foundation about his anxiety, depression, panic attacks, PTSD, schizophrenia, and substance abuse. But more importantly, he discusses what helped him through it, explaining how much medication, therapy, exercise, and creative outlets for self-expression like music make a difference."It was the most horrible thing," Davis said. "I remember when I got my first panic attack. I thought I was gonna die."Davis revealed that even after he quit drinking, he still had issues with depression. "It's like walking around with a giant lead blanket on you," he said. "Thank God that I had my music to get me through. I think music is one of the most powerful things in the entire world. It has the power to heal people. It has the power to bring people together, no matter what you're into. It's just a beautiful thing. And that's why I threw myself wholeheartedly into making music. Because that is my drugs now. That is my anti-depressant. That is everything to me."He added: "I think people who suffer from depression need to find something — an outlet — to express themselves and let those bad things out of their head. I mean, it helped me a lot — immensely."The You Rock Foundation is an online platform for instilling hope and love by publishing videos of popular bands testifying about their personal demons, how they fought them, and how they won.For more information on The You Rock Foundation, visit yourockfoundation.org.
