landscapes from your country

Always a pleasant sight and experience, waterfalls. I just saw sprawling one( Dynjandi) at the top last year and the highest one(Glymur) about two years ago.

And I forgot the most powerful one(in Europe), Dettifoss...

What's interesting about those pics aren't only the waterfalls, but also the rock formations in all of them. The last one, specifically, caught my attention: Why are those rocks so straight? They're quite perpendicular, and to seem more of the rocks one would find inside a cave. I wonder if the waterfall came and destroyed it or something.

It hasn't particularly to do with caves. It has to do with specific lava cooling rapidly so that it constricts. And when it constricts the most energy efficient way to do so is forming these cracks I think.

thnx!^^ yeah i thought it was time to get rid of the christmassy avatar but all my old internet av pics are on my old computer so i had to make a new one. The large version of this picture was done for the contest to win the free tickets to Týr, Alestorm and Heidevolk gig 2 years ago. And the hat, the skirt and the belt are indeed Jack Sparrow's :lol:

@Sigurðr: what place is that on those pictures?
 
Those pictures from Iceland are amazing! But then so is nearly every scene in that country :) I have been to only one of those waterfalls (Gulfoss), but it was great
