Larry Roberts blogs for the Deciblog!

Well I was trying to focus on ones that are in the city proper, mostly. If I started to delve into the suburbs and the NW Indiana area and all that, there'd be too many to list. If was going to go that route I would've mentioned Ye Olde Town Inn, as I like hanging there and of course it features alot of underground metal acts.

Penny Road Pub....truthfully, I've only been there a few times. Decent place but wasn't something where I was like, "Man I definitely gotta come back here again". Plus it was never really a place that struck me as being really underground metal friendly, though I have seen a couple of those shows there over the years.

Delilah's is/was very cool. We even had our record release party there back in 2005. But to be honest, I haven't been there since around that time. I have no idea what the current status of the place is these days.

Keep in mind, this was my perspective on places that I personally enjoy hanging out at the most, and also took into consideration the underground metal aspect of it too. You guys might like Delilahs or Penny Road or some other places more than these, but this was about the places I like, so fuck off. hahahaha ;)

Double Door is great, it's fun to play there, and some of the best shows I've seen in the last 15 years have occured there, so I stand by my pick.

I was just goofing on ya.
I like that place a lot too.
I have played there a couple times as well.

The whole Wicker Park area (and surrounding areas) have become SO hipster.
It's crazy to go to metal shows there and see guys in tight fitting black pants and dark rimmed glasses singing Nachtmystium songs...

I was at PRB once. Thought it was a complete dive.
Just my opinion.

I really liked Legends in Addison, but it is now closed.

That's what makes PRP fun! I used to go there with an old drinking buddy to see Slick all of the time, and a lot of the tribute bands like Wildside/Wildcrue and Silent Lucidity.

I only went to Legends when it was called Rory's and was a total dive. I guess they updated a lot of it when it changed over. That place had the worst bathrooms.
