Lasse - Help? Or anyone with SM7 Knowledge

Hey guys. I just got my SM7b today and it's fucking great. I have a quick question. I know it comes with the 2 different windscreens. But I also have a pop filter, and Ermz mentioned that some people (lasse being the specific case) remove the filter entirely and use only a dedicated pop filter with positive results.

Can anyone clear that up for me? Cheers,

Mine came with only one windscreen (the thinner one), I'm only using an external one though (an oversized one)

I find you get a bit of a clearer sound when removing the windscreen and just using a normal popfilter.

btw, odd question... how the fuck do you remove it? I watched the instruction manual, but when I tried it, I could get it to budge and I didn't want to break the windscreen on day 1.

Just pinch the black plastic ring and it will come off. The big one just slides off. (That's what she said)

Cool. Non-removal of the shield and lack of presence boost might explain some really dull/muddy vocals I got sent recently.

Was quite impressed with the raw vocal tone Lasse posted recently. Given what people have been sending over, I didn't even think the SM7 was capable of it. But there you go, it's all in the singer/technique and knowledge of how to use the gear.

It can be pretty fiddly to be honest. I had alot of trouble getting it off just using my fingers. Just get a small flat head screwdriver and you'll be able to remove it quite easily.
