Well, the first one that comes to mind that I just absolutely HATE and cringe every time I am forced to suffer through hearing is NICKELBACK. ( are they numetal? I dunno but I hate 'em) I hate that Chad Kroeger and believe me, sir, "Kicking your ass would be a pleasure". Pure unadulterated hate. I

Ha ha ha I think he is a pretty fucking cool vocalist. At least he doesn't rap. >:P~

I gotta say I DO like Korn and Kid Rock! haha But at least neither of them has claimed to really BE metal. Kid's new album is actually kinda country, which I love.

I absofuckinglutely HATE rap-metal (except for RAtM) but I don't hate Kid-rock. I don't own any of his stuff and wouldn't take it if you gave it to me, but the thing that gives me one iota of respect for him is that I think he is actually honest. The guy mixes some weird styles together in a way that couldn't have been seen as becoming popular. He is a redneck pimp and one of a kind.

I would have to say that all the above listed bands fall into the category of complete suck-ass!

There are a few "things" that I like about a few of them, but not much. I liked the riffs from System Of A Down, and I like the singer from Linkin Park... not the rapper, but the singer, he kind of reminds me of Brad Divens from Wrathchild America... who, by the way is thier F.O.H. engineer.
I agree. Why don't he fucking quit and get into a real band. My brother and I had this same conversation. He has a really good voice. wasted talent, but I guess he gets a good paycheck. :err:

Look at it like this guys.......

Hate it if you want, but it's just a progression of music that was started many years ago and is force-fed to young people by the record labels. Some of these people that listen to this style will discover the true metal and become "one of us." We should feel lucky that some of our young guys like Wicked Child didn't have to go through the transition. Most of these nu-metal fans will simply "outgrow" music as a big part of their life, but a few will appreciate the aggressive guitars and the metal part of the music and want to become like us.... the few.... the loud.... the metal-heads !!! Don't be too hard on those guys.

Pretty much nailed it there Bryant. I've been saying for the past few years that this Nu-Metal malarkey is just a stepping stone onto bigger and better things for those new to Rock/Metal. It's a natural progression, for example i was turned onto Rock by being exposed to the likes of Kiss, Bon Jovi etc.....from there went onto loada great classic Rock/Metal such as Metallica, Dream Theater, Zakk Wylde.....stuff that is basically still well liked to this day.
I'm not a huge fan of Nu-Metal......though some of it I don't mind but the generic blueprint really gets on my tits and most of it sounds the same..........but I will say that thanks to it, Rock/Metal has again become a popular global listening habit, and here in the UK its finally giving the crappy pop/techno dance etc we have to endure a run for its money. All hail the ale!!!!!!!!!!

Nu-metal sucks but it beats the hell out of Christina Aguillera. I listened to some bands that I am embarrassed to admit to now and some bands that some would be embarrassed about but I am proud of. I won't waver. We all start somewhere. I am a forgiving person as long as it is not a situation involving my profession.

I don't really "hate" so called nu-metal, I just don't listen to it and avoid it like plague.

And for the ones I've heard, I can't find where their Metal roots are... probably nowhere. It does not mean that they're crap (to each its own), but they're not Metal, period. Nothing wrong with not being Metal by the way. Prog rock is great music, still it's not Metal. "nu-metal" is not Metal either.
Playing with distorsion on the guitar does not automatically makes you a Metal band...

ah, this topic reminds me that I'll see Judas Priest in a few months in the area, with a "nu" band opening :ill:

"nu-metal" DOES NOT EXIST!

I will relentlessly pointing it out in all boards I attend. The proper name for that noise aberration is mallcore. They try to belnd with ourselves using the metal tag and try to sell the kids the notion that they are the next generation (fuck Pepsi!).

Baggy pants, reversed baseball caps, chains on the wallets, pogo dance, goaties, noise and screams. No accomplishment in guitars, drums or bass is not metal..is just ugly noise.

Mallcore is just another music industry mutant created to tary to take over the real metal. Thier groove, funk, ridicule outfits, stupid names and worse music will never dethroned the real metal.

well man, I am sick and also tired of seeing that baseball cap , baggy pant thing on this very site!!! I mean, all those new bands even in the real metal section wear that shit and sound awful, I mean, everybody is saying shadows fall this and chaimara that, I really feel out of place sometimes even in concerts were I am the only young guy with a thrasher vest and tight pants.

they claim that their roots are ac/dc and led zep, and ozzy, rock crap, you know, and call it "classic metal", so real metal is really hidden away from the public

I must admit one exception to the rule, Jaguar. They look like rejected from Godsmack or crap like that, but their last album "Run Ragged" is pure, uncompromised, by-the-book heavy metal. They have regain all the spirit of their original NWOBHM album and extended their work in the 2000 album "Wake Me".

I guess some bands believe that in the end is about music and not looks, but I rather see a band in denim jeans, shirt, sneakers or leather, spikes and chains for the sake of the good old times.
