LEGEND - PALE HORSE

Hrmmmm.. I don't remember exactly what the settings were on the 6505+. I'm sure I took a picture of it. I just need to dig it up.

Chad told me Zeuss used a Rode NT3 I think. I was going to buy one, but I ended up liking how my AE3300 sounded, so we stuck with that.

Rich, you really need to check out the new The Browning record I just did when it comes out this summer. Cameron Mizell is mixing it with the band at the end of this month and then Joey will be mastering it. The snare sound we got from Noah's (The Browning drummer) acrylic Tama snare is insane! Probably one of my favorite snare sounds I've ever gotten. Also extremely happy with the cymbals and toms. He has an endorsement from Dream Cymbals and they have a very unique sound. He actually has 2 custom, signature bells that he drew up the specs for.

I might have to post a little sample of it, because that snare kills!

I'm currently working with a hardcore/noise band from ND called I, Apparatus (not sure how to describe them, but something in the vein of Circle Takes The Square and Native). Their drummer starts setting up his kit and he pulls out this haggered-ass snare, and I'm like WTF is that?? Apparently the dude found it for $15 at a garage sale - a fucking 1959 Slingerland! He wasn't the best at tuning his drums (like most drummers, haha) so I tuned that badboy up and it just sounds soooo rad! I think I'm going to make several sets of samples out of it, because it sounds sooooo good at various tunings. I told him he's probably not leaving the studio with it, haha.

haha ill check out "The Browning" dude :)

what studio is cameron mizell in? our drummer had a dream cymbal which ended up cracking but it was the loudest goddam thing ive ever heard haha. even louder than a zildjian mega bell!! it was only a crash haha

Thanks man! Yeah.. not a huge fan of his work from an engineering standpoint, but his mixes are usually fairly solid, so I'm sure it'll turn out great.

Back from the dead, haha! All I remember the gain was right around 4ish. Really low, so that the pick attack would cut. We also had the amp set up by a guy around here who is amazing with biasing. The low gain tone worked great with the 5 string ESP surveyor bass and classic SVT/sansamp pedal setup.
