I've been trying to find more info about Machine, but most of what I've found is just babbling without any relevant sources of information.

I've seen his name mentioned when it comes to whatever from 18V, Lamb of God to White Zombie, King Crimson and Ozzy. Now, checking the recording info about ie White Zombie gives no real result - it's either Terry Date, Bill Laswell or Andy Wallace. King Crimson/Ozzy - trying to dig any info from their mondo bizarro recording credits is like racing F1 high on Tramal.

Fact is, Machine produced a bunch of badass sounding records - 18V, LoG, Pitchshifter, Ashes of the Wake. Does anyone have any more info about him? A real name would be a good starter! :)

Six degrees of seperatation!

My bass player played in SuperNoiseGod with a guy called Jim Marten -> who was in Subvert with a dude named Rueben Gotto -> who plays guitar for Sack Trick (as well as Twin Zero) -> who have an ex-dude from Machine (the band) play with them occasionally -> who obviously knew Machine back then.

I mean Christ, we're virtually related or some shit.

Er... that's it though - I don't actually know anything about him.

Wow, he did the Fall Out Boy album? Crazy. That album sounds incredible. Call them gay all you want, but for power pop, softcore punk they are about as good as it gets.

He seems to be one producer who doesn't have a particular "sound". He just produces great sounding albums and gets the best out of bands without me listening to them thinking "that's a Machine album".

That's possibly what he works across a few genres as well. I'm currently listening to Armor For Sleep's "what to do when you're dead" and you'd never automatically think that it's the same guy that did LOG's "Sacrament", but both albums sound great and are benchmarks in their respective genres (at least to my ears).

The other school of having a "signature" sound is very cool too. I like knowing what I'm in for if I listen to, for example, a Terry Date or Bob Rock album.

Thats true.

I would have never thought the same dude produced Lamb Of God's 'Ashes Of The Wake, Every Time I Die's 'Gutter Phenomenon', Clutch's 'Blast Tyrant', and Pitchsifter's 'PSI'. They all sound different.

Dudes definetly good at what he does.

Yep....anyone who's produced King Crimson rocks IMO. Although I prefer the production on Thrak. The Double-Trio was an amazing experiment that I wished they stuck at for a while longer. That thing was cold, ice cold....

The guys name is Gene, he lives in Hoboken, NJ. I worked with him on an album my band did for Geffen in 2002. He is excellent at motivation. He pushes you to put more attitude and emotion into what you are doing. He is also a truly nice guy and fun to hang out with. He uses Logic and records guitars, vocals, and bass at his studio called the Machine Shop. He hangs out with Billy Milano alot also...lol
