This is a well-documented flaw with the DL4s. Here's what you do:
1) Remove the bottom plate and pop open that son of a bitch.
2) Find the small, squared chip in a socket (Hint: there's only one...unless you're drunk).
3) Use whatever you can find to GENTLY pull it out (pushpin-type thumbtacks or very small flathead screwdrivers work alright).
4) Whisper a few sweet nothings into the chip.
5) Gently insert the chip back into the socket (Beavis & Butthead would be proud.)...exactly as it was.
4) You're done. Your DL4 should work good as new (it will also be restored to factory settings, so that sweet ass 64th note reverse delay @ 275bpm will be lost). Congrats. Now go to your favorite bar and pick up some strange.
In all seriousness, this "fix" does work...unless the problem is something else (but I honestly doubt it). What you're actually doing is removing static build up in the DL4's chip. I actually bought a few "broken" DL4s for super cheap, reset the chip and resold them for a profit. Ah, capitalism. Good luck!
