I like both songs. Cool productions, too. What did you use for the guitars? "Leave me here" sounds better overall to me. Much rounder sound. Really impressive. Though I'm not a fan of that obvious autotuning. :err:

Thanx man,
Well, for the "Leave Me Here" it was Gibson Woodo and BCR AcrylicWarlock - Peavey XXX - ATM MB5k + SM57 - SSL xr627 Mynx 4000 pre - LynxAuror16.In Nouendo I smacked it with ModernFireChainer.dll and I EQed out some off the honks...
The other one,was all BCR AcrylicWarlock - 6505 - Atm MB5k in off Phase and 60% off axis + SM57 straight in the center - SSL xr627 & xr621 9000pre - LynxAurora16 - EQ - TRacks LIMITER...this guy was a drasticly better player!!!

I wish I had more stuff to play with, guiz -amps - mics and preamps...but hey...

Yeah, the vocals are Atuned to death for a reason  the guy just never got the pitch right:Puke:

Dude this sounds really good. But the drum sounds somehow a bit digital. The snare is also a little thin. The guitars sound really good but there is something there... I think these mixes have to much high end on them. They sound a little bright. Those high frequencies are harsh sometimes. Especially the overheads. But they are really good mixes without doubt. ;)

I heard this better and I was wrong, it´s not the overheads. In the first mix, the backing voices in the chorus are pushing too much brightness, you can correct that with Deesser or by cutting some high frequencies.

Edit: Second mix sounds good but a little bright also. The voice can come up because she is very low in the verse section.

+1... great tunes and mixes overall!!! Guitars sound great!!!

Yeah,so it's true!? I really needed to hear that from someone else, cos I sometimes just get too subjective:goggly:,and I get to a point where I start loving the track and stop hearing the existing faults.Btw,mixing on Samson Resolve80a really effect my overall perception, and it messes up the overall balance really, really hard!

What speakers do you guys use and why? Do you use SUBW? I was looking at a pair of Adam7 or BM15 passive + sub + custom amp?

Dude but your mixes are really good, you just have to fix some things here and there IMO. My monitors are not better than yours, I have a M audio BX5a. Sometimes the problems are not in the monitors, of course you must have some reasonable quality in your monitors. But the thing is get used to the sound of them. I hear almost all my music with this monitors and that´s good because I will know much better my monitors and what are their flaws and this makes the difference when you are mixing.

But I know what you are saying, my monitors are a little scooped and I am always pushing mids from the mixes, mids a highs!lol The other thing that you must have it´s always a reference mix, not to copy that guitar sound or other shit but to hear the balance between the things, also the amount of low end, mids and highs. Most of my mixes also become too bright and I only realize that when I hear some pro mixes as a reference. But if you can have a Adam7 and also a sub, why not? you cant go wrong with them.

But as I said it´s not just the quality of the monitors because there are some people here with great mixes and they have low price monitors and there are mixes not so good that comes from people with really expensive monitors.

Thanx for the comment...

Yeah I know that our ears addapt to whatewer but, they have to adapt to it every day!!!We don't listen to the traffic, wind, everyday conversations through the sh*** monitors we got ;-) but with our ears,so they actually suffer through out the day when we mix. Here's an example,I mixed an entire album for a band on an A7 in a CRAAAAAAAPPPPY room, and I did the same things that I do on my Samsons, although I've heared much more details and faulty stuff on them then on Samsons. When I finished the rough mix I just smacket it with a soft comp/limiter and the whole stuff just smacked me in the face!!!Like if someone else mixed the sond...I was after Bullet For My Valentine overall sound and the result in the end was  Don't forget it's a rough mix...her's a sample:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5646556/Hetera 2010-01 RoughMix.mp3

Just listen to the chilling part, listen to that reverb...I couldn't dial that preset with the Samsons,no way...or the RADIO voc...It's quiet but it's still here and I can understand everything.F**** Anyway....It's all recorded no BFD,DKFH or whatever although the snare and the kick are triggered like 10%,just for the low end tightness and transient... Guiz, all amp, played buy a sloppy hand on a 3500Eur PRS + a Voc that is ATuned on automod for preview only.

This mix has so much detail (although I pushed the master comp too hard and the whole song pumps like a big ass :heh: ) that it frightens me that my Samsons do cheat on me

Well but you are also comparing your monitos that cost maybe 300? with others that cost 700.:goggly: It´s already a big difference. But I heard the mix and Wow, it´s already an awesome mix mate, besides the pumping every sounds really great and detailed. Cant point my finger to anything wrong.

Well in your case the Adam A7 makes the difference, so you are right. But I also said that with those monitors you cant go wrong, because they have a really high quality. You can search in equipment section for some reviews, almost everybody talks wonders of them. If you work often with bands and make some money. You should buy them.
