Liv Kristine - Skintight

Liv is clearly using image as a selling point. Nothing against it.

As for the music, it reminds me of a more pop The Gathering. Not bad, but I don't think I'd buy it based on this song.

I'm just glad she is still putting out good music with Leaves Eyes. If this is all we were hearing from her, I'd be VERY disappointed. This is pure bubble gum pop.

It's crazy the difference between how she looks now and back during Theater of Tragedy's early years.

I have her first solo album "Deus Ex Machina" and it had some songs I really liked, but never bothered with her second solo album and probably will skip this one too.

I loved "Deus Ex Machina". Such a great disc.
I don't listen to "Enter My Religion" nearly as much, but it was still a very good album.

"Skintight" is more poppy than either of those two, less gothic as well, but just full of very well-written pop songs.

I think this music is more appropriate for her voice. And it's nice to hear her singing within her range, instead of trying to go way higher than her voice can handle, like she does in Leaves' Eyes.

I much prefer her sister, Carmen in Midnattsol to anything LE has done, though.

I havent listened to the above song yet, but based on comments I am sure I know what I am getting into and am not missing much.

That being said, the song " Fake a Smile " off of her first release was pretty cool imo, I liked it a lot.

I thought she was using image as a selling point in Leaves' Eyes too. The albums have her with her cleavage as the focal point of the artwork.

This solo song is just like Leaves' Eyes or Delain except the song doesn't start out with a heavy metal riff and then go straight into pop. I'll be skipping both these bands and it will give me a chance to take advantage of the signing sessions this year.

I disagree. I find Delain's music poppy, but they are a FANTASTIC band. If you miss their set, you will miss a great live performance too. But obviously, it's all a matter of taste. :)

+1.

I love Leaves Eyes, don't get me wrong, but Midnattsol is an amazing & very underrated band. I figured they would have gotten a lot more recognition because its Liv's sister. Isn't Midnattsol's bass player they girl who is now playing bass for Leaves Eyes?
