And now for something completely different:

I've been taking baby steps with my SAC rig, mixing & recording a few shows here & there. However, I must admit, I've been quite surprised by the sound quality I've been getting back.

Now, bear in mind, this is completely live. No punch ins, no re-takes. It's very far from a perfect performance.

Final Stage - Detroit Rock City - LIVE TEASER

Nor is this a finished mix... ...it's just something I threw together because I'm surprised how well the guitars & drums turned out. The vocalist/guitar player was playing with a monitor that kept shorting out (don't cheap out on your cables!) so he did the best he could. Anyway, enjoy & don't be too brutal with the criticism... this is live, after all.

Glenn, those guitars and drums sound GREAT for live sound. I mean, really good. I grew up with KISS, so of course I like this song. :)

I will not lie, the guitars are a reamp. (just like on the Despised Icon Live DVD) but the performances are live. We got a pretty decent sound from the live miked amps, but I like the added isolation & tweakability of the reamp.

Bass was direct with a touch of EQ & Compression. Drums are live except for the kick which is a Slate sample. All performances are unaltered.

This sounds awesome! Especially the guitars, which I feel are usually the weakest links in live recordings. Drums sound crystal clear too, for not being triggered, etc.

I know you said it's an early mix, but those vocals could be brought up a tad.

This is very impressive, nonetheless!

sounds good!

glad to meet another SAC knight round here :D.
how did u achieve that guitar sound? me really likes!

HOLY SHIT! SOMEONE ELSE WHO USES SAC!

I've been the lone SAW guy on here since '05 & everyone thinks I'm nuts. Glad to have someone else here in the insanity ward with me.... :)

Guitar sound was reamped, and achieved though years of trial and error. I've got my cabinet position taped off on my floor & a very strict regimen for tracking. Always take dry tracks of stringed instruments!
