Last time i saw Opeth they did a drawn out semi improvisational spacey jam of closure. Id like to hear it again (or a similiar version). Does anyone have a recording of them doing it? thanks in advance.

yea, this is definitely an essential addition to their live repetoire. its no "careful with that axe eugene" but its a start. i hope the band continues to take a creative turn like this in their live set with maybe even more effects and space to breathe, its still a bit claustrophobic for a spacey piece. But overall its a much welcomed breathe of fresh air to me.

They are playing this jammy spacy version of closure for a long time now...........but I also do like it a lot that way.
One year ago when they played SummerBreeze they also played a totally improvised song for about 5min which can be found on no record, so I am glad I was there*g

BTW you should check out the Rockpalast Video of Opeth, there they are playing the spacy version of Closure.

well i hadnt bothered to see opeth again for quite some time, this was the first time id seen them in probably almost 2 years...so i guess its possible they had been doing the jam out version of closure for a while.

opeth ALWAYS play closure with this long 'spaced-out jam' part in the end... since summer '03, when they toured usa with porcupine tree. of course, many live recordings exist of that song...

no people, im not referring to the drawn out end. which is NOT spacey, just chaotic. im referring to the elongated middle section where they start doing this textured, layered melody jamming.

regardless, i already got the track that illidurit sent me last night, so dont worry about it.

I did enjoy the closure that they did live though it hardly seemed like a jam...felt more or less rehearsed and fairly exact.
