finally got it this weekend. holy crap is it awesome. lizzy's singing is top notch. he hits some insane high notes and he has to be closing in on 50 now.

I wouldn't say it's awesome but it's very solid indeed. It never quite starts kicking ass like the first half of Deal with the Devil (Bloody Tears being the exception) but on the other hand there's no filler/cover songs either. Lizzy's voice is crystal clear indeed like you said.
Let's hope the follow-up doesn't take 7 years this time...

they didn't take 7 years to make another album. after deal with the devil they changed the band name to starwood and in 2004 made an album of hard rock instead of metal. it was called "if it ain't broke, break it" and a few of the tunes were reworked lizzy borden songs from the early 90's that were never put on an album. the big question is what the hell happened to lizzy borden between 1990 and 1999

Well, but you see Starwood isn't Lizzy Borden. They specifically didn't want people thinking Starwood was LB "reborn" but a different band with different, non-metal music. That's not to say you can't enjoy Starwood (I didn't) but the last Lizzy Borden album before Appointment was indeed Deal with the Devil from 2000, so seven years it is...

true enough but like i said they weren't sitting on their butt for 7 years.i enjoyed starwood a lot. i had heard a few of those songs on live botlegs from the early 90's and thought they sounded better on the starwood arrangements. anyways honestly wtf was lizzy borden from 1990-1999 other than 1994's greatest hits?

Starwood is fucking awful. I remember getting and advance copy being all excited about hearing a different side of Lizzy... Now I wished I hadn't. He's threatening to release a new album soon, it's been recorded and ready to roll. Will Metal Blade baulk at releasing it? I hope to god they do...

they recorded a new starwood album? did you ever hear the lizzy borden versions of a few of those songs? i think metal blades will release anything lizzy does because i thought he works an office type job for the label too. anyways sixxswine what happened to them in the 90's?

I heard nothing in terms of Lizzy demos for any of the Starwood album...
I think Lizzy was burnt out from the music business and took an extended hiatus... That's about all I know...

they weren't demo's. it was live stuff from the 1992 tour, the first with martin anderson. they did "what's your damage" for sure and i think 2 other songs that became starwood songs. they also did "dark shadows", "we only come out at night" and blue oyster cult's "this ain't the summer of love". of course 2 of those songs were recorded for deal with the devil. not sure what happened to "dark shadows"
