Since some of us live in different regions, I thought we could have a thread to showcase our favorite local talent!

Since I was up to my eyebrows in the Michigan local scene, I'll start there!

Dendura - female-fronted, Egyptian-themed, progressive-influenced metal :D

Miles Beyond - Heavy on the Maiden :headbang:

SMYT - a little mainstream metalcore, but hey they cite Dream Theater and Maiden as influences and they all graduated from one of the greatest music schools in the nation - Interlochen!

I didn't post any death metal.... you might not be so lucky next time. Michigan breeds it like a bad rash

We ain't got nothing here in El Paso it's Heavy Metal Maraichia, so i will have to go with a fes bands from other Texas cities.
Austin- MEYVN

Dallas- GHOULTOWN

Houston- Every band from Houston that is playing MADFEST, KRUCIBLE, OUTWORLD, SIX MINUTE CENTURY, ETERNITY BLACK, MAGISTRAL

Sorry there just isn't any talented bands in El Paso that play decent music.

I'm going to follow Tammy's lead and post some bands from my old "local" scene...Kansas City, MO area.

The Messiah Complex :headbang:

TMC "A Storm of Fireflies"

Full Power...an older band still kickin' in St. Joseph MO...legends in the local scene. :headbang: The fourth song on the MySpace page "Pico de Gallo" is an ode to a local mexican restaurant. :)

Cast in Grey.... Hmm, I'll have to give them a listen. Too bad they aren't around anymore. Isn't that always the way? :erk:

They aren't around anymore? The last I heard they were. They just played a show about a month and a half ago. Maybe I'm just completely oblivious or something.

Ok I finally went through some of the Myspace stuff and found some cool bands from TX!

There is Will To Live - great Houston hardcore band with old school thrash influence. Great guys too.

Broken Teeth - Jason McMaster's band from Austin in the vein of DT and AC/DC

No Ballads - these guys embody the old skate thrash days of Skatenigs, Scatterbrain and the like. Awesome and funny as hell

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this guy yet either...Marzi

NO NO NO...Cast in Grey is a band that was formed from the now defunct DEEP. Cast in Grey are still around...sheesh:loco:

My bad. I guess Dyslexia sets in early when you move Texas

Hmmm, we have several new-ish bands in Atlanta that I've heard that are good.

From Exile

Novum Organum (kinda Opethian)

Demoncy (not new, but new to me)

Becoming the Archetype

Daath

Withered

I'm leaving out the obvious ones like Halcyon Way, and not to forget Eclipsed By Sanity (who I haven't heard, but presume are pretty good :)).
