Mesa Boogie posted a new video of Willie and Mark of Lamb of God riffing on their new Mark V's on the tour bus. I just love the fact that they did a demo with properly mic'd amps. They've definitely got a raw/unique sound, and I think it works for them. Always love watching these guys. Although their live sound when I saw them at Mayhem in ATL was too fucking LOUD. Had to use earplugs, and it was an outdoor venue. :erk:

Whichever one of them is the dude in the baseball hat, I fucking hate how he picks.

Listening on headphones. I like how they hard-panned it. Wow, the way they attack the strings is completely different. Mark and Willie sound VERY different. Mark is definitely the tighter player, no offense to Willie who's an incredibly cool guy (I've hung out with him a couple of times.)

Great tones, I have to say it's taken years but the Mark series sound has grown on me.

Can't believe I used to idolize this band. Dumb teenager...

I hate the way they make it sound, or maybe it is just their sloppy playing.

It confirms they are became shitty players. Some years ago they would play these riffs way better...
Mark is decent but Willie should start a chef carrier.
About Chris I've already written what I think......it's 2 years that these guys play like shit

I'm always amazed at how awful they make the Mark series sound. The guitarist from a band I recently mixed was really keen on their tones, and I had to try really hard to reconcile that in my head with a way that actually involved them sounding good.

In the times I've played around with it... I actually think it would be difficult to make a Mark IV sound that bad. Not sure if the V is such a significant departure.

Daaaaayummmm. All the hatin'. :D

As for the sloppy playin', well yea, Willie's right AND left hand technique are pretty whack. I think it's hilarious how he makes those huge fret jumps using only his pointer finger. But still, LoG writes some of the grooviest riffs in metal.

As for their Mark IV/V sounds, you guys probably just don't like the sound of low output pickups through the amps...I personally dig the tone for their style. I mean they're rednecks for fuck's sake. What better way to suit the band than a woody/raw/unprocessed Les Paulish tone?

/fanboyism

the tone kinda works (and might even work better in context), but for my taste its wayyy too dull overall.

Triplets are cool. Not meaning to SPAM, but since some LoG fans might check this thread, I think you might be keen to check out that record I was talking about where the songwriter is highly influenced by LoG. You might just dig it!

Speaking amps, Lasse did the reamps with the 5150 III, so you can compare how this style of riffing works with that compared to the Mark series.

Again, apologize about the spam, please carry on :)
