And as far as the honesty goes...yeah - I would have to agree. Funny how the truth hits home with so many of us who are into Metal because it simply moves us - we didn't choose it - it chose us - and many of us started out in the Metal scene when it was completely UNCOOL to like Metal (early 80's) - we were devil-worshippers, burn-outs, idiots etc - and then all of a sudden it got cool and the people pointing fingers a few years earlier were "fans". And then - grunge happened and Metal supposedly "died" - yet we all kept listening to our favorite bands and there was still a kick ass scene - it just wasn't mainstream. And now - things have come full-circle again and it's totally new but rooted in the same spirit as always.

The people who ask me when I'll stop wearing the shirts really crack me up and I feel sorry for them...because they just don't get it. It's not - nor was it ever - a fad for us. It's always been a way of life and a part of who we are. Period. They can go buy whatever happens to be popular at the moment.

OK - I need to stop before I get all sappy.

METAL RULES :headbang:

That's it right there. Personally, I missed out on a lot of the good stuff in the 90s. If the 'net had been fully up and running like it is now that wouldn't have been a problem though. I think we're right at the cusp of a new wave of metal. The younger generations seem to be latching on to the good stuff rather than what they're spoonfed over the radio. I hope so, anyway. It could be just wishful thinking.

If we just give the kids a kick in the right direction, that new wave is surely going steady !! I am allways busy handing out good oldschool thrash and metal to kids I know here and there ... they really get into that stuff and pass it on!! Okay, they are mostly into harder stuff, but if you give 'm some Slayer, Motorhead, Kreator, Exodus...they ALL like that, becouse it's simply alot harder music than most modern stuff!! Today another package went out to a guy who really was into Black Metal, but got bored and discovered oldschool Heavy Metal, he surely will freak out from what I send him; Toxik, Abattoir, Zoetrope, Hirax etc...
Also alot of new Heavy Metal bands are getting attention. Myspace and alikes have alot to do with young kids getting into Metal, this way it's only a click away to a big jukebox full of Metal music !! :headbang:

Information and knowledge are the best weapons to combat radio's feeding spoon. Back in the day I heard about new stuff from friends and they heard about it from me. If you open up that group of friends to millions around the world, word will spread faster. It's an interesting time we live in.

Hmmm.... I had "Metal Heart" blasting from my hot rod minivan last night while I was pulled up at a gas station pumping gas and there were some late teen/early twentyish guys next to me. They had the mop haircuts and 70's style clothes, but one of them walked up to me and asked what I was playing. I told him Accept. He said "Man that singer is insane !" It was a compliment judging by the way he said it. There is hope for today's youth.

True story.

Welcome back Marine. You did a great interview in that documentary. You represented us elderly metal heads very well!

Still, the guy's a freak who's been in prison several times if I'm not mistaken. But the way he answers the question, the silence, then the way he drinks his wine, this is just toooooooooo much :D
