I'm gonna treat myself to a new axe. Always been used to 60's style LP's but I want something more contemporary. Really don't know where to start!! Budgets £1k. Amp is a 5153 50watt so I'm definitely not lookin for a bright instrument. I'm just after a few suggestions is all. Thanks in advance

^Depends on the LTD. I dig the Deluxe series. I have not had good experiences with the lower-end non-Korean LTD's, though.

Schecters are alright too. PRS SE. All made in the same factory in Korea with pretty similar if not the same quality standards.

Or look in the used market. 1K can get you A LOT. Mid-high level Ibanez and Jackson fall within that range in the used market easily.

Also, quite honestly, a Les Paul can do "modern" just fine especially with the right pickups, the right setup, and the appropriate string gauge if your attempting to downtune.

I hadn't considered a used ibanez or Jackson. Excellent points thankyou ;)

I've got an LTD Deluxe with the active EMGs and it's got a solid construction and very good playability, also sounds awesome on a 6505 so I'm sure it'll be the same on a 5153. :)

The Schecter Hellraiser is very similar but the neck is thicker and it sounds bassier, so it depends on what you're looking for.

Three letters for y'all F G N.

Or Fujigen :) Sweet Japanese axes at sweet factory direct prices. No need for Hoshino to stamp their Spanish sounding brand seal I hope?
