Everywhere and nowhere
Just got back from this show. Pretty good time. I had never seen Lordi or Stolen Babies, Lizzy Borden a few times.

I found out later there was a multi-block power outage scheduled for this evening, so they cut the time on all the sets down to nothing, which really pissed me off. I didn't mind a short Stolen Babies set, as it's not really my thing. They were interesting, but not something I would buy.

Lizzy Borden though, was probably the best I've seen them. Seriously good sound, and back to the old theatrics. Saw them maybe two years ago with WASP, and really thought they should have hung it up after that performance. I'm glad they didn't, because they were great. Too bad their set was 24 minutes long.

Lordi was a lot of fun. They played a decent set, and sounded great. Would definitely go see them again, but I doubt it'll be in San Diego. The turnout for the show tonight was horrible. I would say that when Stolen Babies went on, there were maybe eight people by the stage, handful wandering around. And those eight left when their set ended. Definitely a core but small following. LiB might have played to 30-40, and maybe 100 for Lordi. At least I got to see the show without driving two hours to LA.

:headbang:

The only reason I would attend this is to see Lizzy - one of my all time favorites. But for 24 minutes???? Not a chance.

Like I said, I don't think this was at all normal. Talked with one of Lizzy band member's girlfriends, and it sounded like they had been doing a pretty extensive set, blood, more theatrics, etc. We just got a short set because of the power bullshit. Not happy about that. I would go if I were you. It will kick ass. I wish I could hit another date.

Lizzy's old stuff is good, but I just can't get into their latest offering. For some reason it just fell flat for me. With that said, I love the image that the band is portraying.

Brian - I COMMAND you to give Appointment With Death another listen.....

I second this!

I listened to the album on my drive to my parents' house and once again congratulated myself on buying the album. :kickass:

For you Chicago folks: Tix are only $15 at the HoB.

Also, should I expect to be splattered with stage blood and stuff if I manage to get front and center for this show? I've never seen Lizzy Borden or Lordi live before.

Wasn't a problem at my show, since they didn't get to do shit, but yes, I have heard that the front audience gets splattered. Maybe not GWAR kind of splattered, but who knows.

The LB band member's gf I was talking to said that she was excited, because she was the one that was going to get killed on stage when they went to Europe. Definitely sounds like they get a better show.

Okay so I know I'm missing some songs but here are the ones I remember...

Abnormal
Give 'Em The Axe
Notorious
Appointment With Death
Rod of Iron
Master Of Disguise
We Only Come Out At Night
There Will Be Blood Tonight
Me Against The World
Red Rum

Encore
We Got The Power

I know I'm missing 4 or 5 more but I'm still sleepy and can't recall what they were. The show was freakin awesome! They all came out and signed at the merch booth after and were incredibly nice and welcoming.

I had no idea this tour was even happening! I guess that's what happens when the main forum I spend my time on (not this one) is quite anti-Lordi. But, there's nothing closer to me than NYC anyways.

As a side note, I wonder how a Lordi show works without pyro? The only time I've seen them was Ozzfest last year, and that was outdoors so they could use flames and send sparks out of everything and stuff, but I'm pretty sure they can't do that at any of the indoor venues in the US? Seems like it'd take a lot away from their stage show.

Do you have tickets yet?
There are TONS of free tix at Metal Haven.
This show is selling horribly from what I hear.

I'll have to let Met-Al know about the free tix at Metal Haven. He's actually banking on what happened when he went to see Winger. They just gave him his ticket for free at the door of the HoB. We did know the show wasn't selling very good, though. And it's only $15, which is pretty darn cheap. $5 per band that's playing that night.
