After downloading their (godly) song 'Cry of a Restless Soul'. I decided to check out some reviews of their album 'A Flame To The Ground Beneath', and holy shit I couldn't believe all the 10's (out of 10) I saw. Anyone else heard of these guys?

Also I haven't laughed so hard after visiting their webpage ever since I looked at the photos to Luca Turilli's Prophet of the Last Eclipse CD booklet. Interesting image.

I listened to the first sample "Cry of..." and didn't care for it too much. It seems so 80's, especially the cheesy messages and names for the band members. It reminds me of a modern sounding version of Manowar. To much "power of the God's" themes displayed on their site.

I don't know, I didn't think the song was very good either. but that's just me.

Sure, Lost Horizon is over the top, but the production is first rate, the songs are catchy and well written, and Daniel Heiman is my favorite singer of all time. Awakening the World is a great album, I think its better than A Flame to the Ground Beneath.

Hey mrpigonkow,

Where in Westchester do you live? I lived in Peekskill until I was 9 years old.

I love their sound but I think they're a bit...you know, too much. It's too little about the music, and too much about themselves being hella cool.

Anyway, I bought "A Flame...", and I've downloaded Awakening the World. I like both, but Awakening is better. It's more songs and less stupid stuff. The Song of Earth is a intro to "Cry..." which makes the real song about 4 times as great!

To all but Oakenson and mrpigonkow, shit you guys are really missing out. Bummer. :(

I agree. Lost Horizon is a wonderful band. I have been listening to them since Awakening The World and I listen to both albums often. With a song like Highlander (The One) ... how could someone now enjoy the true-essence of self and metal? Well, to each his own, but in my book, Lost Horizon is awesome!

Whoa! Does that mean that you, while reading my post made thought of it as though I didn't like Lost Horizon? That's not true. I love 'em. But I still think all that what I wrote about them ;)

The kind of image a band like Lost Horizon tries to convey is the same as what a black metal band would try to do, only over a different subject matter. I checked out the clips and they sound pretty rockin, and very mighty.

I just hate the phony regal tone of their messages on the website. The band member descriptions are so goofy, and the band message sounds like it was written by King Arthur. It's just too forced and cheesy in my opinion.

But hey, if you guys dig it then that's cool. Nobody has to like everything. I'm sure there are even people out there who don't like SyX. D'oh!

It's just their masterful music I like, their over-the-top image is laugh while you vomit though. I still shudder when I read the biography on their website. Of course then I just put on Highlander afterwards and feel a whole lot better! :)

I do not care for their physical image, but I do think the image and mentality they state in their lyrics and through the music is quite awesome and powerful.

The power of self!
