Hello again, this time I am pretty sure someone will burn me ass for bringing this up BUT... Recreation day right!(?) Tom sings it as if it were a day of spare time hobbies, leasurely lying around, a day filled with recreation. Is it intended to be a day of RE-BIRTH? As in RE-Creation day. The intonation is a bit off I guess, another example in the lyrics I believe it is from Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy, The shocking truth (could be wrong here so bare with me) ..a week wounded soul... Week? or Weak? I know I am a pathetic dick for bringing it up but Recreation day is suppose to be a re-birth-day kind of right? Hrmm... I'm Sorry I'll shut up now and go away... :loco:

Looking at the theme on Recreation Day,which is supposed to be the feelings of someone who is going through the time after someone close to him/her has died,Recreation Day as in a day of letting go of all the past and re-creating your life again would seem ideal.
In The Shocking Truth,it's supposed to be "a weak wounded soul" of course, right? A week wounded soul would mean that the soul's been wounded for a week and then it wouldn't sound very natural. :p
There's a couple spelling mistakes in the Recreation Day booklet too from what I remember...just little things like some word spelled the wrong way,but actually sometimes it's sung the wrong way too if my memory serves me right...well,little things anyway.
I just noticed today how the In Flames - Clay Man booklet has about a thousand spelling/singing mistakes. It's terrible. Stuff like "weakend (weakened)","explanin (explaining),"drowend (drowned). You sure can tell that IF is swedish. :p
Stupid not to either double-check the lyrics yourself or get them spell-checked (hasn't bothered me with Evergrey though, seeing as there's almost no mistakes). It really sticks out.

I was thrown off too, when the title was first announced (why the heck would they name a CD about taking a vacation?), but it made more sense to me once I learned the context.

It's just a function of not being a native speaker of English. The way they use "recreation day" isn't technically *wrong* - it just isn't how a native speaker would use it. It's meant to be idiomatic, I think, when we don't really *have* an idiom in English that expresses the concept of re-creation.

(except for maybe: Shit Happens And Then You Die.)

But they get the point across and it's not silly pidgin English, so who really cares.

I've had a few laughs about the title, sounds like a concept album about what Evergrey does on their days off (one word: Fastbeer!). Another possibility is that they were aware of how the meaning should be pronounced, but "Wreck-reation" sounds better when sung...

yeah, it looks like I am not born to speak english... please dont laugh, but before reading this message, I always thought that "recreation" was like in a school, when you got time to play outside. Well, I just thought there were getting off of ordinary stuff. Because in french, it's the same word... recreation. I never intented it to be a re-creation, to create again, and it's really more logic.

I guess the band wanted to do a little game with those words (again, an expression that doesn't really exist in english).

I always thought it was meant as re-creation in the first place, since I didn't know the meaning for the word recreation until now.

Good avatar Demonspell :)

JOEHOE Mammoth... you can come out of your hidding place... cause you are so right!!! I haven't thought in that way, 'cause if I read the lyrics of the song Recreation day, I taked it as a real recreation day. You know, to heal of your bad feelings/problems (whatever) to trying to have every day a take-it-easy day.... but now I starting to read the lyrics different.........hmmmmmm... now I am confused :loco:

I thought 'recreation day' was meant sarcastic...
Just like Phil Collins' "Another day in Paradise"?

I thought "recreation day" as Hard life/sucky world ---> a normal thing for some people.
And to people like that, it's pretty easy to make a day a "recreation day".

*Looks around outside his dark room making sure that no Evergrey clan fan will beat him into "Pölsa", then scampers to his computer to write more obsenities*

Ah isn't that a load of my infantile mind!! Well when looking at more booklets I actually noticed that it does tend to be a lot of misspells from a lot of Swedish bands. Like "best of" when being a shitty band it should read "Best off" like in not being played!!! :loco:
