M-Audio FW1814

Check out the MOTU828mkII...2 mic pre's, 8 Adat in/out, 8 Analog in/out, 2 SPDIF in/out, 2 Midi in/out, Cue-Mix zero latency for monitoring, controls for main outs/headphones. Nice piece of gear. I own one, run it on a Mac....(Not trying to hi-jack this thread Brett, just my 2cents.)

i havent used the 1814 brett, are you using it for mpowered pro tools? if not what program?

i was just looking at the price and specs and with the pro tools pack AND the 1814 its not really any cheaper (200 bucks maybe). it really wouldnt make any sense to overlook the 002 in light of the 1814. i'm sure its a decent unit, i liked the stuff aardvark was putting out for a while, but havent really checked em out to much lately, thats if your using software other than pro tools.

M-audio's ADDA converters are average . If you can use an external hi-quality clock (rme, apogee), or you only need digital I/O then it's ok. Preamps are weak. So it really depends on your needs (I guess you have decent daw already).
I think it's very "single user at home" dedicated.

i agree with the whole motu 828 thing as well. for the money it cant be beat. its very solid and reliable and dp4.5 is just about as good as everything else out there. i think this blows away protools le. i mean if you can go protools hd or accel than yeah that fuckin rules(super spendy though). but protools le isnt as good as dp4.5.
