Hi guys , I'm a bit confused....I have the m-audio Fw1814 soundcard, and I think to buy an 8 channel preamp with adat lightpipe out to increase the number of channel.
I'm loockink at the m-audio octane and at the focusrite octopre.
I have a question about the octopre......if I'll buy one, I must buy also the adc/dca converter to go via lightpipe in my firewire 1814???? I can understand thgis point...

Yes, you need the card for the ADAT connection. Remember to check out also Mackie Onyx 800R, Behringer ADA8000, RME Octamic D, Presonus Digimax...

I have used it in one session and I thought it sounded pretty clean. Looks nice too One thing I didn't like about it was the external power supply.

Focusrite Octopre doesn't have any AD/DA converters without the optional card.

ive got a focusrite octopre, and they are sweet sounding pre amps for the price. a step or 2 up from the behringer ada8000 id say.
