That's sixteen cores on a platform designed for 'home' use...

I assume with sixteen cores you're referring to the Beckton variant, which has 8 cores per chip. It's not really a home chip; it's aimed at the server market (and the Mac Pro, which uses a server architecture) and unfortunately won't get here until the second half of next year. I imagine by next Christmas, we'll see Mac Pros with two of those in them.
