This disc kicks ass. Loved the old Wicked Witch demos (before the name change).

Some of the songs are on the Wicked Witch demos but theres a bunch of new songs as well. The old demos were re-recorded for this release.

ORDERED!

Hmmm... It does say "re-recorded" and "Before" so I guess previously they'd have been, uh, demo's? In any case, they've redone it all so it's brand new to most. Whatever the boggle, support these guys, It is a nice addition to the world of metal. Probably should have capitalized all the verbiage here though... Sorry...

I placed an order for mine last night. From the samples that I heard, the music sounds damn close to CIIC stuff. It's cool to see Jeff Plate and Zak working together again! Any other opinions, good or bad?

Effectively bringing the melodic metal/hard rock glory of the late
'80s into the modern era is Zachary Stevens' new outfit Machines Of
Grace. Originating as a continuation of Zak's pre-Savatage band Wicked
Witch, Machines Of Grace also features Wicked Witch band mates Matt
Leff (guitar) and Jeff Plate (drums; and who you'll probably remember
was also with Zak in Savatage), along with bassist Chris Rapoza. What
you'll find on the Machines Of Grace debut are songs like "Just A
Game," "Soul To Fire," "Bleed" and "Psychotic," often reminiscent of
bands such as Badlands, Dokken and Lion, but with an updated
production that keeps things from straying too far into "retro"
territory. Not a million miles away from Zak's other project Circle II
Circle, but Machines Of Grace offer a more stripped down, basic sound.
So you have good songwriting, a crisp guitar/rhythm interaction and
Zak's impassioned vocals here; whether or not this will capture the
ears of the younger generation remains to be seen, but I'm enjoying
it!
