i got a maxon od-808 over christmas, and to be honest i've never expected much from pedals. i always thought whats the point of having a nice valve amp then colouring the sound with cheap pedals. but when i pluged the maxon into my triple rectumfrier i was pretty much blown away. vast improvement in note clarity and tone which has made a big difference to my recordings.

Yes a TubeScreamer in front of any amp will improve it (unless you're aiming at a clean sound, haha). I love my OD-820!

is this like, using the disortion from the pedal only or a little bit dist/compression from the pedal and the rest of the distortion is done by the amp, or w00t?
it seems like most peeps on here like to use their tubescreamers to tighten things up a little bit, but not so much for the actual distortion

I like to use my TS9DX in front of my Triple Recto to compress and add just a little bit of Grit to the crunch, so I blend the 2 distortions together.

Second solution. Just a tiny little bit from the pedal is enough, and you can lower the distortion on the amp. Tightens, as said.
