I thinking I was just looking for Maiden stuff on the net, and came across it.....must have been a couple of years ago now.

Aussie Dave aka Tough As Steel told me about the site one day at work , we got discussing music , he asked wht kind of music was in to I said well metal mainly Sabbath etc ...........the rest is history they say.

I think it was Crossy who posted some stuff on the original Dungeon forum aaaaagggeeeessss ago so just more out of courtesy than anything, I thought I might check out MD to see what it's like and post a message...

The next thing I know I have all these "oooh! Celebrity!" messages pop up! HAHAHAHAHA! What were you people thinking?!! It's me for god's sake! HAHAHAHA!

But since then, this forum has not only led to Dungeon being part of the UM family but it's introduced me to some people who have become very close life-long friends. You can't say thanx enough for that kinda thing! :)

Crossy (remember him?) answered one of my posts on the Iron Maiden newsgroup. I believe it was about the enchanced Live After Death CD and the restored bonus tracks therein.

Anyhoo, he told me about MD and suggested I sign up. Four years and several off-topic posts later, I'm still 'ere!

I was involved in the VERY dark ages when Mark, Crossy and Me (plus a few others who are no longer around) came up with the idea of doing an MD website - which Crossy did with help from Mark :) It was hosted over time in 3 different places and Mark and Chris worked away doing what our group conceptualised (my Web skills are pretty basic).

Anyway to cut a long story short we had LOTS of ideas for a MD Club (like officially etc) and an MD Shop - i.e. import on mass Maiden merchandise and sell considerably cheaper then how u can buy it today via UK website (Pounds etc). We did spew forth a few newsletters which were a lot of fun.

Finally with the new album BNW we helped with promotion and invested our own $$$ into flyers - BTW I have a few still if anyone wants one for a keepsake.. whatever..

The lack of commitment by EMI Australia (initially) and secondly Maiden Management made our group of 5 lose interest and eventually dwindle into what you see today a BB only.

thats about it... sorry for the essay.

I've still got a heap of those fliers :) Both the official EMI ones and the MD one you guys got printed. Mainly the little ones, but a few of the A3 size ones as well.

Before anyone else gets insulted due to exclusion here is the original & extended MD Crew :

Early days :
Mark - El Presidente (4 a while)
Crossy - Mr. Internet
Me - Ideas guy
Darth Raver - Some guy from N.Z. - nice bloke dissapeared I think
Spiff - Always looking over mark's shoulder - more Ideas.

Middle :
Phloggy - Better Ideas guy
Aussie Dave - new El Presidente (4 a while longer)

Lastly :
All you other *clowns* (said in a nice way ok!)

I *think* that's it - LOTS of other people contributed here and there but it was SO long ago I cant even remember names.

Steve Stevens! Atomic Playboys! That's the song that's been in my head all week. I haven't heard it for years, but for some reason all week there's been "Atomic playboys, we are radioation romeos" going around and around and around (just that one line, mind you), and I was trying to figure out who it was. Thanks Blitz!

Talk of Steve Stevens reminded me that last night on CNNNN they said that next year the NRL will be hiring a local performer to not sing at the grand final :)

Because, like, Billy Idol was hired but they ended up not being able to sing because the power wasn't working. Yeah.
