The band sounded tight. Bruce sounded terrific. The crowd was very into it. However, the difference in the energy between the new stuff and the classics was substantial.

The same as they played the last two nights; the new album, "Fear of the Dark", "Iron Maiden", "Two Minutes", "The Evil that Men Do" and "Hallowed".lurch70 said:so what was the setlist?
Yes. It came across well. The only thing it lacked was the energy that the crowd generates when their hearing a favorite. I especially enjoyed "Colors" and "Longest Day".Dark One said:Did the new material translate well live? Sounds like it was (as expected), still Maiden and still a great time.
You didn't know that? Yep, they're playing the whole CD, in order, to start the show.lurch70 said:they playesd the whole new album? wtf?

I agree with everything you just said. I'm totally cool with a heavy push on the new disc. Afterall, they have good reason to be proud of it. It may be their best disc in nearly two decades. That said, six or even seven songs, was plenty. Had they interspersed some classics, the crowd energy would have been totally different.Dark One said:Yeah, that makes perfect sense too. I have no problem at all with a healthy dose of the new material, I would've just preferred to see it mixed up a bit in the setlist - maybe something like 6-7 new songs and the rest made up of material spanning their entire catalogue (or even half and half). They would still get to emphasize the new album, while satisfying the majority of concertgoers. Ah well, new Maiden live still beats about 95% of what's currently out there.

Agreed. I would like to hear someone from the band comment on it. I'm also kind of curious what sort of feedback they've received over the decision. From what I've seen, it's about 90% negative. But I could see how they might not get honest feedback, when they're face to face with their fans.lurch70 said:as great as the new disc is ... its a bit odd that they did that.

Any other bands play their "classic" albums live in their entirety?
